The software u are using might be out date,tries to upgrade the latest version of the software.Or the modem u are using might not be compatible with the Window 7 software.U might have to replaced and upgrade the modem itseft.

Yes you can but windows ME need the drivers of that adapter and (Very important ) The software for the wireless because ME don`t have wireless supported software as compare of xp,vista or 7 .
Make sure you have latest and updated drivers for the adapter and it should support ME .

You are going to need two things for this to work.
First, you need a wireless router, these usually run about $50-$60.
Then after you get the router, you need a wireless usb adapter, so that the xp computer can receive the signal from the router.

Connect the lan cable from the cable modem that is currently attached to the vista computer to the router, then connect a lan cable from the router to the vista computer.

The xp computer is easier.
After you have the router hooked up, just plug the usb adapter into the xp computer, install any software that comes with it, and after it install the drivers it will be able to connect to your router, and have wireless internet.

Make sure that you know the name of your router, that way you are connecting to the right one.

There is also a modem driver but I have not looked for it hard enough cause I don't use the modem anymore. I connect to the internet via DSL, however some people still use the modem to connect to the internet or to send and receive faxes on their PC's. Hope this helps.

well if ur using vista u need to check if da modem ur trying to install is vista compatible or not if not den just let me know ur modem name + model number so i'll find ur modem driver if ur modem manufacturer released their vista drivers if not then buy a vista compatible or vista certified modem or simple solution is that go back to windows xp coz its a fine window n u can wait for windows vista for some 1/2 years so that vista have some problems n errors which in computer language is called bugz so let microsoft team to fix that bugz n may be ur modem manufacturer might releases ur modem driver too!
