Same problem. I contacted Hahnel (via their website) who provided a new receiver with a different code marking on the battery cover.. BBBF instead of BACC. This now works. At Panasonic's advice I checked firmware on the camera and reset all parameters but this had no effect.

How do I replace the battery on the smaller unit?

There are small tabs along the side in the holder. Just pry them apart while lifting the battery. If it is a holder where the battery slides in, just press on the opposite side to slide it out.

My lumix camera will come on, but the display for the pifture is black, how do i fix this

I think most of these questions about black LCD's and black pictures relate to a stuck shutter. My Lumix LX2 has this. The screen is black and so are the pictures. On looking at the shutter through a magnifying glass I took a shot and I saw that the iris works fine, but the shutter did not open. I am sending the camera for repair at a reasonable rate from Clearer images here in the UK.This is the email: sales@panasoniclumixrepair.co.uk. Time will tell won't it?

This worked for me: The coiled wire + battery contacts on the receiver unit are quite flat.I took a small forceps (needlenose pliers would work as well), and pulled the coil into the battery chamber so as to make a more assured contact.

Can I use the cable release without pressing the shutter halfway down?

Hi

Most remote shutter cords focus when you press halfway, so if you want to release the shutter instantly it may not focus the picture
