This may not be the kid's fault at all. Do you have a speaker such as for a stereo near the TV? The magnet in the speaker can also cause this. Moving such magnetic field away from the TV will cause immediate change, but a turn-on from cold (TV off for an hour or so) will be necessary to make the internal degausser do it's job of neutralizing the residual magnetism. In short, move the magnetic source away, and the TV will fix itself.

According to the model number this is associated with, isn't this TV a projector? If so, none of these answers so far will apply. Please clarify the model.

Is it old-style CRT tube?
Does your kid have a magnet??

Sounds like you need a DEGAUSS.. or indeed your built-in DEGAUSS may not be working. This is usually 'fired' when TV is first turned on - massive AC pulse goes to wire loop around face of cabinet and clears residual magnetism so all dots hit where they are supposed to. If it goes out, this doesn't happen and eventually screen goes pink, yellow or purplish..... But this sounds alot like a kid with a magnet to me.

You can Buy a degaussing ring tool from MCM or HOSFELT electronics and fix it ;-)

Then take away the magnet)

Either someone got too close to it with a magnet or you have an output problem.

To use a degaussing ring, start near the center of the screen, MOVING CONSTANTLY in a circular motion, widening your circles and moving away from the screen. 3 - 5 revolutions will normally clear up a problem but, if it's from a magnet, it will take more tries - if it works at all

It sounds like there are some magnetic fields around your projector. Similar to what used to be degaussing in an older tube TV. Sometimes it may be that the speakers are to close to the projector or even the earths magnetic field that may be effecting it. Try turning the projector in a different direction and see if that helps your problem.

Sounds like a scorch mark on the polerising filter, this can only be replaced by an engineer cost around £70 ($150).

Panasonic Color Rings

It sounds like you have a warped shadow mask in your picture tube if your set uses a picture tube. A shadow mask is like a screen wire that lets the three color guns shoot electrons to their respective phosphor dot on the screen to produce the three primary colors which are mixed properly to produce the scene that is being shown. In other words you have a bad picture tube. Stargazer
