You can reset it from the service mode it will take you 15 sec but you can use it only for service reasons.
If you reset it there is danger to fload with ink and messed up the whole area.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Canon ImagePROGRAF iPF8000 says I need to replace an ink cartridge, but the cartridge is full. Is there a way to bypass the message?

Try this. Remove all the cartridges, unplug the machine for 30 minutes and plug it back in. It should tell you there are no cartridges. Insert them.

If the cartridges have been refilled, most have a chip on them that needs to be reset by the filling machine. It is better to use brand new OEM cartridges.

Could you provide the procedure for resetting the wast ink container for this printer? Thx.

The waste ink cartridge in these machines has a chip on it. The chip resets the ink count. You may be able to find an aftermarket chip on line somewhere. However I did find this which may help.

Ink tank counter reset code for Canon ipf8000

However, you have to perform the reset before the Maintenance Tank is completely full.
Once it is marked full, the printer won't start, even in Service Mode, until you replace the Maintenance Tank. If this happens, you can still reset the tank by inserting a new Maintenance Tank, start in service mode, then put the old cart back in and reset it
1. Start the printer in service mode (hold down Feeder Selection and Information while pressing power. Keep the feeder and information buttons down until you see an "S" in the upper right corner of the LCD.
2. Press "Menu". There will be a new entry called "SERVICE MODE" with a different menu structure and navigation system.
3. Familiarize yourself with the following facts while in this menu:
a. Left and right change the categories.
b. Down and up go into, and out of (respectively) submenus.
c. From what I've read, the service mode is very powerful - lots of opportunities to really mess things up. Be careful.
4. Select "Service Mode" as you normally would, i.e. scroll down, then press OK.
5. Press the right arrow until you see "Initialize".
6. Press the down arrow.
7. Press the right arrow until "W-INK" is displayed. (Note: be sure you select "W-INK" from the "Initialize" choices instead of "W-INK - CHG CNT" which sounds like just the thing, but doesn't work.)
8. Press OK.
9. The display should show "=W-INK" for about half a second, then plain "W-INK".
10. Press up until you get back to the main menu. Press information until the maintenance cartridge capacity is displayed.
11. The maintenance cartridge capacity is now 100% (aka empty).
12. Press and hold Power to turn off your printer.
13. Turn it back on normally.
14. Maintenance cartridge capacity (not usage!) should still be at 100%.

Canon IPF8000 does not turn off, LCD is blank and lit green.

Basically, unplug the copier from wall electrical socket and plug in see there are changes on LCD. If that is not working, then reset the copier to manufactor settings see if the same problem persist.

Why doesn't my Canon IPF8000 completely shut down when I turn it off? The LCD is still lit with a blank screen? This may have happened after I updated the firmware to 1.36. Can I revert back to the old...

In order to allow for the automatic maintenance feature of this printer to work, it needs to have power, but will effectively be in  a "sleep" mode most of he time, hence the blank screen
