SOURCE: FRIGIDAIRE FRT21PRH Not Freezing

if the evaporator has a full frost pattern it is not your compresser... First I could check your fan motor is it running...if the frost blocks the air flow it will stop cooling.. Next it could be a defrost problem or a plugged drain... to get it to work temporary defrost the freezer. Unplug the refrigerator, open the door and get a blow dryer and warm up the freezer. wait until the water stop dripping out or about 12 to 24 hours and then you can plug it back in . it will work for 2 to 3 weeks. To unplug the drain.defrost the freezer .remove the back cover. Use a pipe cleaner to clear the drain. pour a few cups of hot water down the drain. The defrost systems is:
HEATER-DEFROST
THERMOSTAT-DEFROST
TIMER-DEFROST
Start with the timer. It is just under the front kick plate. there is a knob you can turn it slowly.until it clicks off the compressor. then open the freezer and listen . You should hear the heater come on .. it will sizzle when it comes on ...
You will have to remove the back panel of the freezer to check the heater for and thermostat for continuity. Heater are the lease likely part to go bad... I always change thermostat and timers together.
let me know if this helps or we can chat if you need more help

SOURCE: Where is the defrost timer on model abb222zdew

the defrost on this fridge is done by a control board not a mechanical timer
how ever is more likely than you have a bad defrost thermostat (bimetal).
I just did one like yours last week.
good luck.

Refrigerator GE Model GSS23QTAWW. Freezer temp at 0 deg F frig temp at 35 deg after remove frost from back of freezer. After a day frost builds up in freezer & temp increases. Suggestions.

Before replacing any part make a thorough check of the heater, freeze sensor, and the defrost timer coil or contacts. If contactsopen and closes when you rotate the timer manually, contacts are okey. If the coil have no resistance, it is defective. Replace the timer by unscrewing the two metal screws holding the timer. Make sure to install the terminal lug clips to the correct location and rescrew the new defrost timer. For heater, remove the terminal clips and remove the clamps holding the heater. Install the new heater and fix the desired clamps then connect the terminal lug clips. Freeze sensor should close contact when frozen. If the sensor does not contact when frozen replace the freeze sensor.

GE Frig model TFX20JRBK ww with icing on freezer

I would suggest fixing it . You only have 2 parts in the defrost system . A timer , and the defrost heater which comes with the bimetal , pt . # WR51X10031 .Most probable , is the defrost heater . You will need to remove the rear inside freezer panel , and defrost the coils with a hair dryer . After defrosting , 2 screws hold each ( 2 ) heater on , ant the defrost thermostat , just clips onto the top of the coils .

GE ESS25XGMB WW freezer is not cooling everything melts. I've cleaned coil with vacuum unplugged and plugged back in and is working again.....but in time it will get warm in freezer again

How long did you unplug it for? A longer amount of time might have let the defrost coils melt. If your defrost coils keep on freezing up, the defrost timer might be bad.

Ge frig does not freeze on freezer side

How to check everything
http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/refrigerator/refrigerator.php
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

GE side by side ffreezer continues to frost over

A simple defrost may not be all that is needed. There is a piece that connects to the coils called a defrost timer or a " clixon " This is most likely the problem. Have it replaced and that should get you back in business. Hope this helps. Good luck.

GE TFX20JR BK WW side by side won't cool or freeze

First point: The entire fridge is cooled by the freezer section. A fan blows air across to the food section.
2) Every 8 hours or so, a timer shuts off the compressor cycle, and starts up a heater to defrost the freezer coils. If the heater(s) are burnt out, or if the safety thermostat (to prevent overheating) is open, then you will have no defrost. The coils will frost up and eventually prevent airflow to the food section. Milk goes sour.
3) In rare circumstances, the timer itself can stall. This cause the same symptoms as above, but this is not as common as the other 2 causes of No Defrost.
Sequence: Check heater continuity. Check safety thermostat continuity while cold. Check defrost timer operation.
Hope this helps. I am a journeyman with 39 years exp. Happy New Year.
