It might be that your adapter isn't operating at a high enough power. To fix this Click start>right click my computer>properties>hardware>device manager>double click your wireless adapter. In the advanced tab set the power management and transmit power all the way up (but be warned: KILLS battery life). Or your adapter isn't set to the right mode (like if your access point or whatever is 802.11g and the adapter's settings are set to 802.11b only).

Do the Basics First;

  1. Make sure you turn it on or switch it on
  2. Reboot your PC
  3. Make sure your router is set to broadcast your SSID
  4. Right click your wireless connection and select "repair"
If still doesnt work;

  1. Select and double click your wireless connection
  2. Click on properties
  3. In the middle of the box find, select and highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  4. Click on Properties
  5. Make sure "Obtain IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are the only ones selected
  6. Click on the "Wireless Network" tab
  7. On "Preferred networks" make sure your wireless is there ( your SSID) if not Add it, move it up or remove the others
  8. Once its added highlight it and click the "Advanced" button and make sure to select "Access point (infrastructure) networks only
  9. Make sure this is NOT checked "Automatically connect to non-preferred networks" then click "Close"
  10. Highlight again and this time click "Properties"button
  11. Check "Connect even if this network is not broadcasting"
  12. Check authentication configuration

Enable / Disable an Enterprise Laptop's Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi, short for Wireless Fidelity, is networking technology that allows you to connect to the Internet. If you have a wireless-enabled Latitude computer you can connect to the Internet when in range of an access point called a hotspot.
When not in use your Latitude's wireless card should be disabled. By disabling Wi-Fi, you will receive two benefits:
Start-up times will be much faster.
If the wireless card is ON and you are out of the office (not connected to your normal, wired connection), the laptop will try to use the Wi-Fi network during the login process to run the various start-up scripts, etc. It will eventually time-out (fail). By having the wireless card turned OFF, the start-up process will be much faster.
Computer will not continually search for a wireless network (and waste battery life).
If you are in the office (connected to your normal, wired connection) or in a location where there is no wireless hotspot, you don't need to have the computer waste processing power by looking and looking for a wireless hotspot. By disabling Wi-Fi, you will gain a little more power for your other tasks. In addition, you will maximize your battery operating time by disabling wireless activity.
NOTE: After your Latitude has started up completely, you can ENABLE the wireless card and connect to a wireless hotspot. For example, a wireless router at your home or at a local coffee shop. If you have connected to this hotspot previously, the wireless card should connect automatically for you.
NOTE: Once you have the wireless card enabled, before you shut down the computer, you should again DISABLE the card. The computer will then be ready for the next time you turn it on with wireless turned off.
Enable / Disable with Hardware Switch
The more recent Latitude models have a wireless switch to enable or disable wireless network devices and the
Wi-Fi Catcher Network Locator.
Dell Latitude E6420 and E6520 Series
These laptops have a small switch on the RIGHT side of the keyboard. The switch is toward the front of the laptop. The Wi-Fi Catcher™ icon will is above the keyboard. You will see a lit radio tower if the wireless switch is enable

Bluetooth peripheral device driver

Sai Ch Krishna,

Depending on the system. The bluetooth would have to have been purchased at point of sale. The wireless and the bluetooth are turned on by a wireless switch on the side of the computer. If needed you can reinstall the drivers. Also, make sure bluetooth is turned on in the bios. Below is more information.
Wireless Switch

Wireless Technology The Latitude D630, D631, and D630c system ships with a wireless feature called the wireless switch. It is located on the left side of the system next to the IEEE 1394 connector. When used in combination with the Dell 38482; Quickset utilities, this switch enables or disables the wireless LAN, wireless WAN, and Bluetooth cards in the system or searches for all wireless networks in range.
To scan for a Wi-Fi wireless LAN, slide and hold the switch in the momentary position for a few seconds. The Wi-Fi Catcher network locator works whether the computer is turned on or off, in Hibernate mode, or in Standby mode, as long as the switch is configured through QuickSet or the BIOS to control Wi-Fi network connections.
Because the Wi-Fi Catcher network locator is disabled and not configured for use when the computer is shipped, it must be enabled and configured through the Dell QuickSet utilities to control Wi-Fi network connections.

Wireless Switch LED Settings
The LED on the wireless switch works even if the system is off. A user can activate the switch and have it scan for networks without going through a complete boot process. The switch can be set to detect for only certain wireless signals, such as WLAN only, WWAN only, Bluetooth only, or any combination of these. This is set in the BIOS under the Wireless section.
The LED indicates the presence of a network as follows:
  • Flashing green - The system is searching for a signal.
  • Green - The system has detected a wireless signal and has good strength.
  • Yellow - The system has detected a wireless signal, but it is moderate to weak in strength.
  • Red - The system failed to detect a wireless signal, or the wireless signal is extremely weak.
Thank You,

How do i connect my wi-fi on a Delstar Netbook

Is the wireless enabled on the laptop, if it is then it should detect any available wi-fi network when you switch it on.
If it does'nt detect a wi-fi signal it could be a problem with the wi-fi card driver.I don't know if you have the user guide for it but I thought you might need it so I uploaded it here for you.

I did notice in the manual there is a master reset switch recessed in the bottom of the case. You can use it to reset back to the default settings as if you had just bought it.
You must save all you personal files first though or you will use them.

I am trying to use the wi fi on my dell d 510 I just bought the computer from some1 today

Make sure your Dell's wireless functionality is working. And that you are in a wifi zone.

Right click on your My Computer and choose Manage. On the left panel, choose Device Manager. From the right, look for Network Adapers and expand by clicking the + sign. It should show you your wireless network. RIght click that and click enable.

Hope this helps. If you have other questions, please let me know.

Wi Fi Connection

Have you tried this: go to bottom task bar and right click on the PC icon. Select "View Available Wireless Networks". Find and select the wireless system you have, i.e., linksys, etc., and click on "connect".

If that doesn't work, use the same method to open the connection options, and click on "repair".

Lastly, if neither of the above works, try rebooting your linksys or whatever wireless system you have, and start over.

by default, dell systems' switch for wireless can be done by pressing Fn and tap F2. The wifi light should lit up. Your modem is integrated to the motherboard. If you were able to lit up the wifi light, this should be able to detect wireless signals for you to connect to.
