Re: connect laptop computer to tv
You may have to press one of the Function keys at the top of the keyboard F1-F12, you may have a monitor icon on one of theses keys, if not try all one at a time.

if you have a PC input to your LCD panel, connect the VGA cable at both ends (one to PC and the other to LCD TV), Only after the connection switch on the PC not before.
Make sure your Computer Display settings - Resolution not more than 1020x780. If so reduce and then try.
I assume you are connecting a Dish Network receiver (model?) to your Sony TV with an HDMI cable. I also assume this happens daily. At a certain time (default 3AM but changeable) the Dish receiver (modern models) will reboot and the "screensaver" it normally outputs will be turned off for a minute or so. Some TVs, in obeying the rules for high definition connection (HDCP) will unlink their connection. Some are fussier than others and some will not automatically recover on power up. Since the Dish receiver must reboot to maintain its stability and then refresh its guide, you should be able to do this if the TV is turned off overnight.
If you still cannot get the connection maintained, I recommend that you connect with component cables--RGB+RW cables (the red-Y, the green Y=luminance, and blue-Y signals and audio right and left.) You may have to select a different input before turning the TV off, or maybe just changing source input will recover the one you want. I have no problems with my VIP722 receiver and my Samsung DLP TV. You might be able to get some more specific advice from the www.AVSforum.com message board for you TV.
The USB entry is mostly used for a foto slide show.
Please read the owners manual before plugging in any kind of USB sticks or other cable's in a TV set.
It can damage the set when there is a ground connection between some devices.
try to right click the desktop and choose graphics options, you will have to select the correct output for your setup. i.e. laptop to monitor, etc etc see if that works,...sounds like you have a connection, you will have to play with these settings until it pops up. worked with a similar scenario, sometimes you have to do stufff twice and it works on the second time not the first, electronics are weird.
keep changing the settings in the graphics options until it comes up the way you want it.
depend on what you wants to do. if you wan to get sound from your tv on receiver connect out from tv to in on receiver if U have optical out from tv send this to optical input on your receiver and set up your receiver to impute to digital HDMI carrie sound and video...
(My Denon receiver set-up shows an HDMI cable going from the Video Out on the TV to the HDMI MONITOR OUT on the receiver) OUT TO OUT don't make sense ...could be out to impute you may have HDMI going from receiver to TV and other HDMIimputs on receiver to use receiver as distribution unit say you have satellite HDMI, DVD HDMI, Computers HDMI IMPUTE all of this connected to your Receiver and the HDMI monitor out from your receiver connected to TV so now you may select any of this sources to wach In your TV and lessentrough receiver speakers
i think u guys need to connect the laptop to the tv with the laptop off. and pc mode should come up when ure changing sources. then u should be able to just function F6 or whatever it is to put it on screen. im currently looking foor an answer to why it does not just got pc mode without me doin this? im lucky as i have my pc tower sitting next to my tv so i can just plug it in and then switch it to the laptop when ive got the tv in pc mode. but it gets annoying so if anyone knows how i can configure the tv to just switch to pc mode even if nothings connected that would be great.
