The keyboard is probably bad. You can test this by connecting an external USB keyboard and seeing if you can type normally with it.
You'll need to replace the keyboard to correct this. Doing so isn't very hard, or expensive, but you need to take great care when disconnecting the ribbon cable from the connector on the motherboard. If you break the connector, you'll need to replace the entire motherboard.
