The keyboard is probably bad. You can test this by connecting an external USB keyboard and seeing if you can type normally with it.

You'll need to replace the keyboard to correct this. Doing so isn't very hard, or expensive, but you need to take great care when disconnecting the ribbon cable from the connector on the motherboard. If you break the connector, you'll need to replace the entire motherboard.

You should be able to find easy to follow instructions, and parts, by Google search for "Toshiba Satellite M-55 keyboard replacement"

The solution was helpful. Thank you. Where can I have the keyboard replaced at a fair price?

In my business, I generally charge one-hour minimum labor for any service. Changing out a keyboard doesn't take that long. I certainly believe $65 would be on the high side for this service. If you have a local computer shop perform the service, they will probably put a markup on the cost of the keyboard as well.

I certainly encourage taking a look at the instructional videos online - you may decide that this is a service you can perform yourself.

Your windows key (the one with the flag) appears to be blocked. Try pressing them both (or 1, if you only have 1) once, see if the keys work again. If not, try taking the keys off the keyboard (just put somthing under them and pull) and put them bac on. If that doesn't help either, you will have to have your keyboard replaced.

Keyboard malfunction

You can try reseating the keyboard but then if the same keys aren't working then that means that the keyboard is bad and would need to be replaced. Could be either keys sticking or water got spilled on the keyboard.

Keyboard key not working

If it is just one letter then you most likely have a bad keyboard.

Try an external keyboard, if the 'c' is still not working with the external then it's probably some weird software issue. But, if the 'c' is ok on the external you will probably have to replace the keyboard. Replacement keyboard are pretty easy to find on ebay or the web and are usually very easy to replace.
