If the inner drum is loose the bearing may have failed or the drum shaft spider may have broken. the scrapping will be the drum hitting the heating element.

more likely there is a bra wire caught between the inner drum and outer tub, possibly wrapping itself around the element in the bottom.

The bearings have collapesd due to the seal going faulty. If bearings can be accessed to from the outside, it is possible you could do the repair. If big bearing and seal is accessed from the inside, suggest tech. do it as it gets dirty and a lot more complex.

SOURCE: My washing machine makes a very loud banging noise at the start and end of the spin cycle and there is a scraping sound throughout the cycle as though there is metal in the drum. What could be causing
If you have an older machine it is the un-even load distribution in the wash tub. The wash is not evenly distributed in the wash tub. The wash tub don't spin evenly and wobble instead.
