I purchased a Toshiba 19LV505 with DVD player not long ago. Not used often as in guest bedroom. Today there is no picture or sound. DVD still works great.. What happened? What caused this to happen? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Purchased same model Toshiba TV 6 months ago from Circuit City. Yesterday all TV features stopped working except for power on/off. Can't access set-up or restore factory defaults. Blank/white screen appears . . . if I turn off TV, then back on, sometimes I get regular TV again, sometimes I get sound but no picture. Can't find troubleshooting info online, tried calling Toshiba, they changed 800 number to 10-10 number with Nevada long distance charges applying. I'll e-mail Toshiba to see if I can get a response and share anything I find out. Please do the same if you come up with a solution!

Heard back from Toshiba. They said to unplug the TV, wait at least 3 minutes, and then plug it back in. This should allow it to reset itself. Sounded too simple, but after doing just that the tv has worked fine for the last three days! Toshiba noted that if this didn't resolve the problem we should contact them to have a Toshiba Authorized service person come check out the tv. It worked for us, hopefully it'll work for you too. Good Luck

Its the POWER SUPPLY or possibly some resisitors that a repair guy can fix if its a fried circuit board that the resistors are on its gonna cost WAY MORE thatn the actual price of the TV if thats it then it CHEAPER to buy a new one

Toshiba 26AV502U (new) video dropout if VHS tapeis not perfect

Had problem checked by local outfit called "Circuit Pro"; their analysis was compatibility.
Actual answer was that the Toshiba required a better quality input from "any" VHS source.
I finally took a "less than perfect" VHS tape with me when I returned the Toshiba TV to the store and demonstrated the problem to one of the TV sales people. He played the VHS tape through a display VHS/DVD player to three different brands of TV. The picture was often "black screen" on a Toshiba, but was merely poor quality on the other two brands. I upgraded to a Sony KDL26M4000 from the Toshiba 26AV502U.
