Forgotten key to access my secure d-link wireless router model

Model di-524, p/n 11524neu b4g,
s/n dyod379002768 h/w ver :b4.

I purchased a new laptop and don't remember the key to access the net through the d-link router. My daughter laptop still accesses it automaticly and does not know the key also. The d-link router is also connected to a westnet access 611 modem to a desktop computor. How can I retrieve the correct key or reset the dlink router for a new key/password. please help me. D/link tech support charges $40 even before you get to talk to anyone and you don't know if they can help or not but still have to pay the $40.00.

Hey what you can do is you can reset the entire router... by using the reset button on your D-Link router... Or else you can also access the router by using the following IP address in the internet exlorer...

try 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0 & then go to the wep settings & reset the router or change the password for the router...

Cannot access my wireless network

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

I have a new lap top which is recognising the wireless network and then asking for a network security key. How do I find this?

The network security key is essentially a password that was setup to control access to your network. Presumably, when you set it up you gave it a password that you could remember, but not so obvious that people could easily guess. If you've forgotten or lost the password, you can reset the router by using a paperclip and holding the reset button for about 10-15 seconds. Once you reset the router, it will be restored to its original factory defaults and you can then setup again your wireless networking.

Why my d-link wireless limited access all user who want to conecting my network..including my.eventhough i have a key security?

if you don't have internet on the connection, it will tell all connected that access is limited.
Otherwise they are using the wrong key or encryption. I'd need more information about the wireless to help (key type (wep/wpa) etc.

Wep key how do i find it

The WEP encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the WEP key. Then go to your computer/laptop's wireless card and configure it with the router's SSID and WEP key, so it will then connect to the wireless router and the Internet.

To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

I can't remember the security password i created

the password for the wireless internet or the password to access the router? If you can't access the router. There is a pinhole to reset it to factory specs. If you can still access the router but don't remember the security key. then just log into the router and make a new key.
Thank you,
Lee

Security code for my home network

if you have a router you need to access the router's setup page. Contact DLINK and ask how to do that. or you can go herer www.portforward.com and locate the model of your router this will help you get into the router's setup page (choose any of the games or application to open port after that it will show you how to access the setup page of the router). The go to the wireless section and look for the security keys (WPA,WEP).

Want to know the pre shared key

If you don't know your pre shared key or forgotten it. You need to access the configuration page of your router and create a new network name and a sign a new network key or pre shared key. Create the profile of your SSID/Wireless network connetion under wireless settings.
