Question about Televison & Video
Hey folks, this is a new one to me. I was recently able to fix my LCD TV that was stuck in standby mode but now have the problem of no picture but sound on a different TV listed above. Would blown capacitors cause this like before or is this something completely different. I remember hearing about a Zener Diode that might fix the problem but haven't looked into it. (the TV in question is a friend's and I can't take a look at it since she lives 7 hours away, lol.)
Anyhow, she said her son went to turn down the volume and the picture quit.
I spent $5 to fix my TV and was hoping I could fix hers for as little as possible also, thanks in advance for info I don't know, lol.---ahltru
I had almost the exact same model. Mine was a 9631D, built on the same architecture I believe. I can say, if you heard a POP noise, before the picture went out...You are most likely looking at your Y-SUSTAIN, and Z-SUSTAIN boards. Don't let this get you down. Look closely for any blown caps. And You can not only replace one board. unless it's the Z. If you only get the Y, without the Z, or vice versa, you can damage the new board, and end up in the beginning scenario.
Hope I helped,
