Question about IBM ThinkPad T30 2366 Notebook

1 Answer

Not responding I get this so much. It can be when I'm checking my yahoo email, my antivirus is scanning, doing a google search, my work email, defragging, etc. I have an Avast, Spyware Doctor, Tuneup Utilities, have de-fragged, disk clean up, etc. I have Windows XP Prof. Service Pack 3, 512kc (86% used) I use my laptop at work & home. I have an IBM Lenovo T30. I have stopped programs from running at startup. My browser is Firefox 3.0.5. Ok, what is up? Please ask me before you answer if I have done this, ran that, stopped this, disabled that, etc. I have googled everything possible but get sometimes get such a technical answer it goes over my head. I am not dumb but am smart enough to research the problem. However, you get answers such as " you need to get an antivirus program, spyware program, firewall, etc. Help!

It happens when I try to open Microsoft Word, save a file, surfing the internet, checking my email. Random things I do daily - it just says (not responding) sometimes for minutes at a time.

Just now, I was playing free cell and was trying to open a word document but it was (not responding) so I just kept playing my game until it would finally respond & finish opening the document.

as i read your description, i think u and i have the same issue. my laptop now runs slow and hangs for 30sec to several minutes at a time; i have scanned with avast and defender and they find no issues. because i have my laptop on for extended periods at a time and it sits on a desk, i'm thinking the problem may be heat related. my intent is to first replace the memory modules ( which i needed to upgrade anyway), and see if this has an immediate effect, if not my next step would be to see if i can upgrade (or just replace the cpu). i will leave a message as to my results as soon as i'm able to do this.

OK... and how long does a full virus scan take to complete?

Something in particular comes up as not responding? Or just various programs? Or the entire computer stops responding?

Yahoo and Google Search Not Working

If you restored your computer, you may have destroyed some of the files needed by Yahoo and Google search engines. The easiest way to resolve this is to download and reinstall both the Yahoo and Google search engines.

Good Luck

My email keeps sending out messages with a geosite attachment to all the people on my contacts list. I am not sending these emails.

That issue seems to be with virus infected on your system. You can try doing and online virus scan

1) Go to this link and download MalwareByte
(Install it and do an update for the antivirus first by clicking on the 'Update' tab, then do a scan either a quick scan or the other one)

2) Once done, download one more antivirus 'Super antispware'
(Perform and update for this too and do a scan)

Hope this works

Redirected from yahoo email

You may have a virus or worm that has infiltrated your network and it is routing you to the google page away from your Yahoo!Mail. I would recommend doing a virus scan on all the computers attached to your network including locking down your firewall on any routers, hubs, switches and on all windows platforms utilized by your computers. Once that is done, proceed with a full network check which you may need to consult a local computer repair company if you are unable to do the network scan yourself.

Yahoo is totally shut down with error messages. hw will i be able to check email if yahoo as totally shut down from my computer?? same with facebook as per usual the system is slow not responding same with...

Sounds like you have some sort of infection on the computer. Would be odd for both Yahoo and Facebook to be down at the same time. Also you mentioned your computer is running slow and not responding which furthers the thought of malware/virus on the PC.

To scan for an infection I would recommend (2) pieces of software. The first one is "MALWARE BYTES ANTI-MALWARE" & the second would be "AVG ANTIVIRUS". If you click on the title of both of those softwares it will take you to the download page. Download them and run them to get your system cleaned up. If that does not work come back and let me know and we can further troubleshoot the issue!!

Mostlikely you are infected with either a Virus or a peace of spyware.Go get Ad-aware install it and run a scan on your comptuer. when you are done withthat go get Spybot Search and destroy install/run it. once you are done go to and run a free virus scann.

ifthis doesnt help please give us more information. What email system areyou you using? Yahoo? Google? and are you using Outlook, OutlookExpress, Eudora, Thunderbird, or something else to check your email?
