Go to the printer settings and have a look in there. The settings may be found on the printer itself if it has some kind of digital display, but more commonly it will be in your computer somewhere in Settings>Devices>Printer. Look for a setting like "print properties" and uncheck the "draft" setting to put it to normal printing. This may darken your printing. If it is not set to draft then set draft and see if it comes out lighter, and if it does then it may be an ink issue and you may need to clean the print head. This will be somewhere in the "Print Maintenance", again somewhere within the settings.

1. In Windows: Go to Start>Devices and Printers>Right click on your default printer. Select printing preferences.
2. In the area that reads: Additional Features in the middle of the window, you'll see a selection that reads: Grayscale Printing Put a check in that box. This will print everything in black and white.
3. Go down to the bottom of that window and put a check on the box that reads: Always print with Current Settings.
4. Click Apply
5. Click OK.
Once you are just printing in black and white, the only cartridge you will have to replace is black ink-unless you change it back to color in the future-then you will have to replace the color cartridge as well when it is low.
Removing and reinstalling the printer driver will fix most issues such as this.
But if you are finding its just slow for PDF files read on.
If we break down the actual issue you will find that its not so much the actual printing part of the process that is slow, its actually the spooling/converting the document to the printer that takes the time. Does your printer support PostScript printing ? (PostScript is a printing & imaging standard used by many printers) To find out if your printer does indeed support this either refer to your manufacturers documentation or perform a test page and look to see if you have a PostScript enabled option.
If your printer does support PostScript, make sure you are using its PostScript printer driver, most of the time we generally use PCL drivers, so simply change this.
Firstly we can force PDF files to be printed as graphics as opposed to text, to do this launch your chosen PDF viewer, select Print > Advanced > Print as image
This can also help to increase just about any slow PDF printing issues as it means that a soft font does not have to be created as the file is directly converted to a graphic and then printed as such.
Lower the print resolution (this can be changed from both the Windows print settings and from the printer itself if it has a LCD type panel) If we lower the print resolution most of the time the difference is very small, but it can reduce the actual file print size of the document by up to 300%, which can greatly decrease printing times, especially if your pc or printer does not have lots of memory (RAM)
Make sure you are using the very latest version of any print drivers or your chosen PDF printing program, normally Adobe Acrobat, as this will provide the most stable and efficient platform.
If the printer only has a small amount of memory if possible add more, if possible install a Post Script SI MM.
From what I can tell the 6 orange lights indicate a print head failure. Why the print head has failed is another question maybe too old (I've read somewhere that they only operate for a fixed amount of time), maybe printed enough pages (somewhere else indicated that they only print a fixed number of pages). The solution is to replace the printhead (not just the ink tanks).
There is no way to know which print head needs replacing, so unless you have a spare one you will just have to choose which to change, and if you get it wrong try the other one. It appears to be an expensive way of solving the problem (but I have just found it cheaper to buy a print head which comes with 3 tanks than to buy 3 separate tanks!).
I sounds that the black printhead inside your printer is clogged. Please try head cleaning on the printer. Regardless of what brand name you using you can actually check it on your computer. Check on the example below:
click on start / settings / printers & faxes then right click on the printer icon left click on printing preferences
Click on maintenance tab and you will see cleaning button
Could it be that you have the quality set to Best, either at the printer or through the application you are trying to print with? If so, on the printer, you can select Normal and in the application, select Properties on the Print window and find the Normal setting.
Your check paper might be too thick for the printer. It has been designed to handle paper 20-40lbs. If common paper prints fine, it means that the printer is not able to bring the check paper to the exit tray, where the fuser is located. The fuser is the part that heats and makes the toner print permanent. Try printing your checks through the manual tray.
