Question about Maytag PAV2300 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

The washer is very slow to fill up with water.

It seems like it has taken longer and longer to fill up with water and now it barely drips into the tub. Any suggestions?

Not sure if normal or something wrong but i put it on large load and it only fills about a third of the way if that is this normal

top loader --- there is a small plastic hose that runs from the bottom of the tub up to the level control switch at the panel
the filling water pushes air up that tube until the trapped air pressurizes enough to overcome the water level setting and switches that switch
if it already has water in ti it will activate the switch too early
pull the switch off one end and blow the water back out
re attach and set the level and turn on the water

Bathtub is filled and will not drain at all.

If the tub's drain seems to shut off 100%, and it opens properly, most likely you do have a pipe freeze-up problem..... especially if you don't have any other drains having problems. Somewhere below the tub you should have an elbow in the drain pipe.. I'm guessing that the freeze-up has taken place in the elbow... Do what you have to do to warm it up... However, if it's been really cold, a slowly dripping or leaking tub or sink, will quite easily freeze, where ever your first cold spot is...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one. Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call to confirm that it is not something else- like the control board not feeding the correct voltage to the valve ;-0(
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

after carefully reading this, the leak is at the machines water valves, or from them to hose to tub.

Water will not go down drain tube

Sounds like you have a clog. Either try plunging the drain in the stationary tub or replace the line from the humidifer.. Just a thought

Water Level and Water continues to drip after cycle has ended.

The water dripping into the tub is caused by the fill valve solenoid not closing completely. The fix is to replace the fill valve. The overfilling of the washer is caused by the pressure switch. Over time the diaphram within the pressure switch becomes fatiqued & fails. The fix for this is to replace it as well... Hope this helps... Bill

you need a new fill valve, even if you ulplug the washer does it still drip? If yes then you do need a new fill valve. Just turn water off at the wall so your machine don't overfill.

LSR8233JQ washer water drips into tub from fill port

Yes the fill valve has been damaged by the silt. If you remove the hoses from the valve you will probably notice that there is either one or both steel screens missing from valve body. You cant remove the screens if they get clogged.
