Question about Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 (021986950806) Docking Station
I have taken out all of the screws, under the rubber handle, sides but cannot get the rear panel off. I got the front panel with the ipod doc loose but that is it. Does the casing come apart in 1/2 or what. I would appreciate any tips on this. Thank you anyone who knows.

Yes, the docking station is damaging the iPod. The vibration when used load is causing damage to the iPod. If you notice, the iPod will only freeze when it is playing load in the docking station. To avoid the problem, you'll need to play the music at a lower sound with less vibration. Once I began to play my music at more reasonable sound levels, I discontinued the problem. Very disappointing solution...but it is the answer. I too called Altec Lansing. They are not aware of this issue...I told them to search the internet - it's all out there.

SOURCE: Sparepart For Im7! LOOK HERE!
I have one that just quit all of a sudden as I was listening to it. Don't know what happened, but it "clicked" and that was it. Sounded great while it was playing, I have the remote if you are interested.

There is a button on the front of the unit that is just below the LCD readout that shows FM / iPod status. Press the button. If it does not open the unit, you may need to tap the back of the unit when doing this or else get something to gently pry open the unfolding section WHILE THE BUTTON IS PRESSED (otherwise you'll break the mechanism and won't be able to lock it again. It sounds like whatever you put in to create the connection may be jamming up your opening.
The unit comes with several adapters for different iPod models, you may want to try a different adapter; you shouldn't need to put anything else in it to maintain a connection. If you don't have those adapters anymore, you can probably get them off the altec lansing web site.
