This is link for Realtek. You have Realtek ALC883 audio codec on your board. You can go to this link and pick your o/s and download. I would check in "device manager" under "sound audio and gane controllers first to see if it is enabled and functioning properly first. No sound on computer and comp can not play music

This issue will occur if the Computer speakers are not to the default Audio Device. Please right click on the Sound icon on the right corner of the Taskbar (System Trey) and select the "Playback Devices". After that, please right click on the "Speaker/Headphones" to set them as the default Audio Device. This should enable the Computer speaker and sound should work correctly.

If the above steps did not resolve the issue, you may need to re-install the Audio Driver in the Computer to resolve the issue. You can download the Audio Driver using the below link.

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7ka213ww.exe

Restart the Computer after re-installing the Audio Driver.

This should fix the issue with the sound.

Hope this helps..

Thanks for using Fixya.

No sound

go into DEVICE MANAGER AND LOCATE SOUND AUDIO AND INSTALL UPDATED DRIVER, OR GO TO control panel and see if sound/audio reflects your card being there.

Hello

It may be the same problem that I had recently, where it said "No audio device installed", but everything looked fine in Device Manager. (If you don't know how to get there, you can look it up. It's not hard.) If that's the case, all you have to do is restart your computer (possibly a couple times).

If you're fairly certain you actually don't have an audio device installed, try a Google search for audio drivers. There are a ton of websites that can help you find and download the right one for your system. (Check the sponsored ads first!) Hope this helps!

No audio device installed on my laptop

I'm not sure whether this is the exact same problem, as I was having, but mine just randomly quit while I was listening to music this morning. I got messages saying "No audio device installed", but when I went to device manager, all my audio devices said they were working properly. If this is the case with you, simply restart your computer. It may take a couple restarts, but this should work. My sound was back even before it finished shutting down.

If it helps anyone trying to get to the root of this problem, I am running XP on a Dell B130 laptop, with the following devices listed in Device Manager:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
Video Codecs
Hope this helps!

If no sound card is detected then it may have been disabled in the BIOS. There is usually a message when the computer starts saying press to enter setup, press or whichever key is indicated and navigate to integrated peripherals to make sure audio is enabled.
