SOURCE: how to change tool

There is a button on the side of the tool near the tip. (Make sue the tool is unplugged or the battery is out) Hold that button in while take the little wrench provided to loosen the collet. You'll see the nut just behind the collar which holds in your accessory.Turn counter clockwise. You may have to turn 1/2 to 3/4 turn for the button to engage the spindle lock.

SOURCE: i have a rotary wizard and no instruction book.

If this is a Black and Decker you can go to Dewaltservicenet.com and find a manual there usually. If not there is a phone number that you can call and probably get one.

SOURCE: black and decker wizard rotary tool spring

no replacement available - you are going to have to fabricate a replacement starting with the broken drive spring - usually one of the end tangs breaks off - cut off the other - take a piece of bar stock/drill rod that fits inside the spring - grind a flat at each end of bar to engage the motor and output shaft - install

Trying to change drill bit on Craftsman Rotary Variable speed drill

Lock the spindle (small chrome button near the tool's nose or lever at the power switch). You'll probably need to rotate the spindle by hand as much as one full turn as you do this, to get the lock to drop into place.

With the spindle locked, use your supplied wrench to turn the collet nut counter-clockwise (as seen from the cutter end) about one full turn. The collet should now be plenty loose enough to release the cutter / wheel / drill.

Dremel 3100 won't release the drill bit. Button at the top is pressed in and won't come out.

The button is only to keep the shaft from turning while you loosen the collet (the nut) with the little wrench. THEN the tool comes out.

I have been given a durabuilt rotary tool but have no manual or instructions on how to use, and I can't even figure out how to change bits... is there a free or inexpensive manual that I can obtain?

WEN Products has a rotary tool that is very nearly an exact duplicate of the Durabuilt rotary tool. I use the WEN manual at home for my Durabuilt rotary tool.

If you would like to see the WEN product page for their rotary tool, please visit this link: http://www.wenproducts.com/store/101-Piece-Rotary-Tool-Kit-2307

Here is a direct link to download the manual: http://www.wenproducts.com/store/index.php?route=product/download/download&download_id=62

Is it possible to grip each part with a pliers and twist and pull at the same time to release the bit? Let some oil run into the collet before you do this.

I have a Dewalt dw600 and the drill bit broke off, just the main cutting bit, and I cannot remove the bit- I try to unlock but it won't come off.

DW660 is suppose to be a tool free bit insertion and removal. However a wrench may be necessary. If you have loosened the the collet nut either with the collet grip or a wrench and the bit does not come out. Remove the collet nut completely from the tool. Remove the the collet with the bit in it. With a couple of plyers, one use to hold the broken bit the other to twist the collet. Sometimes when the bit is overtighten the collet locks on to the bit so to speak and the collet wont expand back out thus releasing the bit by doing the above it will expand back out and release the bit. Reinstall the collet and collet nut.

I hope this helps, thanks for using FIXYA. Good luck and have a great weekend. Jeff
