Question about Panasonic SC-BT100 Theater System

3 Answers

When volume button is pressed it does not stop going up or down

When I press the volume button instead of advanceing one number at a time (eg 22 to 23) it continues going up or down until I hit, ok. It did this once before. I changed the batteries and it corrected the problem. However putting in new batteries has not helped this time. This system is less than 6 months old. Thank you for your help.

Purchase date 8/17/08. Our SC-BT100 has done exactly the same thing. First time was two months ago. It corrected itself after 1/2 hour or so. Today, it lasted two hours before it went back to normal. How do you send a unit into the Warranty Service with a intermitant problem? And if we let it go, the Home Theatre Sound System could go toes up after the warranty period and we would be paying to have it repaired.

I have the exact same problem.  The panasonic support site is useless.

I have had my unit for 2 months and it just started doing the same thing. If you inquired with Panasonic, have you heard back yet?

  • Anonymous Feb 25, 2009

I had the same problem on my Panasonic SC-BT100 Theatre System which I purchased only 3 months ago.

Whenever I adjusted the sound up or down, it would quickly increase to full volume or decrease to the lowest volume. Volume could only be contolled by adjusting the volume button on the unit itself.

This problem happened whether I used the Panasonic TV Remote (TH-50PZ800U), SC-BT100 Remote or my Motorola PVR Remote.

I was able to resolve the problem by unplugging the unit (SC-BT100 Home Theatre) for 5 minutes then plugged the unit back in. Powered it up using the Remote. The volume control up or down then operated normally using the Remote Control.

    Hope this helps.

Same as above....all of a sudden the volume kept going up or down tot he highest and lowest setting.

Does an un-plug fix the problem? Have Panasonic said anything?

  • Anonymous May 10, 2009

I had the same problem. A 5 minute unplug fixed the problem. I am concerned why this happened in the first place? Panasonic products have been excellent too myself in the past, I hope this unit doesnt let me down!

You can also use the cancel button on the SC-BT100 remote to keep the sound volume from accellerating up or down if you don't want to take the time to unplug for the 5 minutes, if your watching something and don't want to miss it.

I have the exact same problem after having the bt100 for 3 months. First it happened on the unit remote so I used the viera linked panasonic tv remote, then it happened there as well. Unplugging it did fix the problem for me as well, but I don't know for how long. I called Panasonic and they said they have no reports of it yet, they are looking into it and will call me back with an answer.

I posted a message with panasonic and have not heard from them but I was able to fix the problem by unplugging the unit then waiting a few minutes, then plugging it back in.  I got the idea from your statement about the batteries.  Hopefully panasonic will realize that there's a problem and send us a fix.

You need to do a factory reset, follow these instructions:

Step 1. With your tablet turned off, press and hold the volume up (+) button. While holding the volume up (+) button, press the tablet's power button until you see the RCA logo with Nipper and Chipper on the screen. After a few seconds, the screen will change and you will see the Android bot on his back with a caution symbol above him.

Step 2. Now you are going to press and hold the tablet's power button, and without releasing the power button press down on the volume up (+) button. You should then see the screen below.

Step 3. Use the tablet's volume up (+) and down (+) keys to navigate to and select the "wipe data/factory reset" option. To select this option, press the power button.

Step 4. The tablet is going to ask you to confirm your selection. Use the tablet's volume up (+) and down (-) keys to navigate to and select "Yes - delete all user data." Once again, use the power button to select this option.

Step 5. At the bottom of the next screen, you will see "Data wipe complete." Press the power button to restart the system.

My remote volume is "stuck"....if you press up once it keeps going up, same with down

Had the same problem...Panasonic emailed me with a fix. Turn unit off, then press "Play/Pause", "Stop" and the "Power" button ALL AT THE SAME TIME. The unit will start up and it should work fine again. Takes some dexterity to get it right, but it will fix it. Keep this, as it's happened to mine several times. However, Panasonic Support online has a firmware update for download that says it "fixes a remote control issue"....since I downloaded and installed the firmware update, mine hasn't done this again.

YAMAHA AV receiver RX-V861 I have the message 'Vol-fix' appearing on Zone 2 and no sound. This was working fine until then

Setting the RX-V861 remote control to operate Zone 2:
  1. Using a ballpoint pen or similar object and press the [CODE SET] button RX-V861 remote control. The[TRANSMIT INDICATOR]on the remote should flash twice.
  2. Using the [NUMERICAL KEY PAD] on the remote and key in 9992, the [TRANSMIT INDICATOR] should flash.
Assigning the receivers internal amp for Zone 2:
  1. Set the remote control selector to [AMP]. (Located to the right of the volume buttons on the Remote.).
  2. Press the [SET MENU]button on the remote control.
  3. Arrow down to Manual Setup and press the Enter button on the remote control.
  4. Arrow to the [SOUND MENU] option and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  5. Arrow to Speaker Set and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  6. Arrow to the EXTRA SP ASSIGN and select ZONE2
  7. Press the [RETURN] button on the remote control to exit out and return to the Manual Setup.
NOTES: There is an option for setting the Maximum Volume and Initial Volume in the Zone Set menu.
  • Max Volume: This is an optional feature but isrecommended to prevent the accidental change in volume levels thatcould damage the speakers and receiver.
  • Initial Volume: This is also a great feature that would seamlessly start the volume level for the second or third zone at the desired level.
We do not recommend using any Speaker Selector boxes to enable more than the recommended number of speakers per terminal.
Controlling Zone 2 using the RX-V861 remote control:
  1. If the Main Zone on the receiver is on, press the [POWER BUTTON]down and while holding that button down press the [PHONO]/[**] button on the remote. The [TRANSMIT INDICATOR] will light up.
  2. You will not be able to use the following buttons on the remote: (Pressing any other button will cause the remote to exit Zone 2 mode. [POWER], [STANDBY], [VOLUME], [MUTE] and the [INPUT SELECTOR] buttons [DVD], [CD], etc.)

There are the instructions as written straight from yamaha. If you need any further assistance please let me know.
Thank you,

My wireless speakers are not working i don't know why

After some research i came with the solution!!! First Turn off the home theater and turn it on again, lower the volume completely. Then on the dvd unit press the fast forward key>>>> while at the same time you press the number 3 on the remote control. A letter p is going to show oh the display. When this is happening there is a small button on the receiver on the back, you might need a thin object to reach the botton and press it. Press it once and the light will change from red to green. To finish up repeat the fast forwar>>>> key on the unit while pressing #3 on the controller and boom!!!!! the w1 will stop flashing and your surround speakers are rocking!!!!! enjoy it!!!!!!

Speaker error

Try checking the volume on your subwoofer i had the same problem. I unplugged the system and had the same error message pop up. So i checked the volume on the subwoofer, and it was set to max, i set it to normal and i haven't had any problems since

There are 2 ways to check your volume

1...On the remote there is a button labeled "BASS" press it, and on the display it will tell you a number between -3 and +3, If no number appears then it should say either "MIN" or "MAX" if it's at max use the volume control on the remote to turn it down to "0"

2...On the remote press "SET UP"
.....Select the Volume icon by using the arrow keys, press "ok" or "enter" to access that icon
.....Select "Speaker Setup" using the arrow keys and enter button
.....Select Speaker Volume by pressing enter
.....scroll down to "SUBWOOFER" and make sure the volume is no higher than +4dB
....Once done press "SET UP" on the remote to exit the setup screen

*Note* - The speaker volume option can only be chosen when nothing is playing on the player, or the disc tray is empty, You also have to be in either, Ipod mode or DVD mode to access this menu.

Hope this solves your problem, and i apologize on the delay of this solution ^_^
