If the port is suffering from a bad connection, you have to re solder it to the motherboard. I recomend you take it to a shop unless your an expirenced computer tech. Or you could replace the motherboard, but if your gonna do that, you are better off buying a new computer. I hope this helps. Good luck.

This is a common complaint of the wire shorting inside, please go to my tips page so that this particular complaint was reviewed with some tips.
The short within the wire cuts off the adaptor votlage as it is in protect mode-- not a failure of the adaptor. so have the wire **** off and connected or use a new pin at the end.

My boyfriend was trying to charge my laptop and he used a cable that had higher voltage than the netbook allowed, we then heard a zapping noise real loud and than nothing and still nothing

If your laptop is exposed to a very high current, there is not supposed to be any problem affecting the laptop, its only the charger that is supposed to be affected.

And a replacement of the charger is the solution to that.

If it goes beyond affecting the charger then The high voltage can affect only two (2) things on the laptop.
1. The battery,
2. The power panel in the laptop.

If it is the battery, To fix it, All you have to do is to get a replacement battery.

Shift the slides that are beneath the battery in the direction they are pointing to, then pull the battery back.

Replace it with the new battery you just got for it, charge it for a while, then turn it on.

If it is the power panel, the laptop will not come up at all.

To fix this, you have to unscrew the laptop from the bottom, you will see the port the charger is being plugged and the panel that is linked to the main mother board of the laptop.

Disconnect it, and apply a little force to remove the charging port of the laptop.

Replace it and reverse the process to reassemble the laptop.

Take care

Piece where the charger goes in is moving. Makes it hard for me to charge it.

Damaged power oin - repaired a few of these on acers... some are on the board if your lucky yours is just broken at the back where it is held by some plastic - u will need to disassemble the laptop and check--if its just the plastic, i would use a glue gun and it does the job. If its on the board, tougher job - unfortunately the pin is never covered under warranty...great place to learn read up before u try anything - if I can help u out in any way , just ask .

If the a new charge will not charge the battery, It would probably be the mother board that needs to be replaced, and its one of the most expensive parts on a laptop.

My lenovo ideapad Y510 laptop won't charge or turn on.

Less $$ to replace the laptop after you figure in the cost of the motherboard + labor to have it installed.

Charging problem

It's definitely the motherboard based on the symptoms. You can send it to their out of warranty depot. Or you can purchase the motherboard from their spare parts sales dept, then look for a local tech who can install it for you.

Laptop does not work with AC adaptor, does not charge. Mother board issue

You may be able to get a battery charger but its rare.

If you do wish to use the AC adapter, take care with positive and negative. Also the voltage of the battery is actually lower than the AC adapter in order to get charged. I don't know what is going to happen if you do choose to use AC adapter as battery. 75% chance that it will work.

Good luck!

Acer aspire 3500 wont hold charge or turn on

I had to buy an new ac/dc plug piece off of ebay (cost only like $3 bucks) to sodder onto the mother board of my Acer. Somehow the little plastic/metal piece you plug into your computer comes off the mother board really easy. Acer wanted me to purchase a whole new mother board (at frigging $350), which, frankly wasn't an option. So I bought the little plug gizmo, soddered it on, and I'm doing good now.
