Surround sound stopped playing sound while watching a movie

We were watching a movie on another component - Blueray when the sound stopped working and turned off on the surround system. It won't come back on even though you can hear it try to power up.

What may be the simple answer to this problem is to take it in to a repair shop and see if they can get it going. It may be as simple as the speakers are switched off (some units have A and B speaker outputs) or you are on an input with no signals on it. You may want to try switching to the FM tuner and see if that works. Another approach is to review the owners manual an see if it has a trouble shooting section that will provide some guidance. I could keep going for another several pages and then still might not hit on the problem since I would just be guessing. Sorry to be so unspecific with possible solutions, but with the data I have that is as close as it is possible to get.

Hope this gives you food for thought. If so, and you have more questions, just come back in with a follow up. Let me know when you get it working and what the problem was.

Rca model rtd3266 won't produce aux audio through the tv even though we have hooked up the red and white cables. It only playes the surround sound when you watch the dvd.

I believe you have misunderstood something. The audio output from your TV is stereo. Your RCA system produces surround output from your TVs stereo input.

My rca blueray dvd player will only play dvd not blue ray

What model player do you have? What movies are you trying to watch?

Check if there is a firmware update for your player. If your player is older and your movie is a recent release, you may not be able to watch it unless there is a firmware update. (If no updates are available, the manufacturer wants you to replace the unit.) Due to changes in copy protection and codecs, new movies can't be interpreted on an older player.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model number of your blue-ray player for more support.

My surround sound will not work through the TV, only the DVD

If your tv and surround has an optical input/output.Then you can connect with an optical lead. This will then play the sound from whatever you are watching. You normaly select dig1 or input1 on the surround system.

5.1 Surround Sound

Only Encoding will work unless you had a converter witch is in the hundreds of dollars yes a DVD movie will most likely help you achive the 5.1 but music like a mp3 no way unless you had the equipment to convert it to 5.1 and why would you want to do that? Anyways yes a DVD even Blueray will bring out the results.. Enjoy!!

Rear Speakers dont work

THe rear speakers are usually for the surround sound experience. What kind of movies do you watch? Usually the action movies have a lot of surround sound, calm movies not so much. And for the music, the same thing applies. Atleast for my system.

Hope this helps.

Use a scart lead to connect it to the TV, that should cure it.
