Open up the Control Panel via the start menu, and then open the "Regional and Language options" panel. There will be a drop-down to select language on the first panel that opens up. If you're using Vista then the panel is opened by selecting "Clock, Language and Region" first, and then the "Regional and Language options"

You should put your laptop beside the computer you are using now and follow the instructions on this computer than the acer. What I mean is click start on this computer than click start on the acer, than on this computer you can count from the bottom how many headings you need to move up on the acer to click control panel and so on and so forth. This well work if the two computers have the same operating system. Its gonna take some time and patience, but I am sure you can do it.
Basicly what I am saying is mimic you actions on the acer as you are on this computer.
I hope I did not confuse you to much.
Let me know how you made out, and good luck!

the best solution is to reinstall windows XP english version

before doing that you need to backup everything on your computer.

Hi, my father-in-law has Acer One laptop and the "@" symobal only works when i press shift+2, which should be the quote mark. I have looked in the settings and can not find out how to change it - please...

HI You need to change the Keyboard Layout and Regional Settings of your PC from English US to English UK.

You need to go in Control Panel to do that.

If your Windows doesn't have a language pack installed you will have to reinstall windows and choose English UK when it ask you to set your Location and Time Zone.
Cheers

Change back website language to english language

This is not a computer problem or a software (browser-operating system) problem.
It is a website configuration problem unique to your account.

At the very bottom next to the search bar there is a button to change your language settings on that website.

I have 2 questions/problems. I have an international student from the French-speaking country of Benin who is staying with me in USA. She has an Acer Extensa 5220 with OS Vista basic. Her laptop is...

I had a Chinese student with a Vista laptop so she could go through the steps below on her computer which was in Chinese and she translated from Chinese to English according to as what was on her laptop we assumed it was the same on the Vista computer in French.
1. Clicked on the Windows orb
2. Clicked on Control Panel.
3. Clicked on Network and Sharing Center.
4. Clicked on Manage wireless networks.
5. I highlighted my network and clicked on Remove. Then I fiddled around with it to find my network and forced it to connect it to my network. At least this is what I could tell because the owner of the laptop went out of town for a couple of days. Some words were close enough to English when I was messing arround. Well, it worked. I still need to know (for any later problems) how to switch her computer into English and back to French for when I have to troubleshoot another problem for her. She is totally non-technical and about all she can do is read and send emails and surf the web. And, I assume, can write papers on it for school. She is in a Masters program here in USA.
