    I followed the procedure. Map Info showed 2008 map but not 2009 map. I unchecked the 2008. turned off and restarted. 2009 map nev er appearaed. My package with the 2009 data card also had another small card SanDisk 2gb. I do not know what is for. I see no place to plug it in. I assumed that it was for another model Garmin GPS. Any Suggestions! Thank you so very much. bregist3

If the map is on a SD card, just plug it into the SD slot on the side of your Nuvi with the power OFF. Then turn on your Nuvi and at the main menu, press the wrench symbol, then the map icon and then "map info". Uncheck your old 2008 map and check your 2009 map and you should be ready to go.

    Bruce,

    The smaller SD card is inserted into the larger SD card adapter. Then you insert the entire card into your Nuvi. The reason why there are (2) cards is because on the newer Nuvi's, they accept only the smaller card. Garmin sells the smaller card and the larger adapter card to cover both older and newer units.

Hello,

Mapping companies take a little while to get there new data into systems so a NEW map could out as far 2-3 years. What you could do i go into tools > settings > map > info and check what map version is installed.

Hope this helps!

Navman s30 maps update

I have provided a link to the "Navman" mapping page for your model S30.

http://www.navmanstores.com.au/2009%20Mapping/S-Series.htm

This is for online purchase, please read the "Important Notice" on the page for your maps, it advises what you need to have with you to install and activate your new maps.

Kind regards

Need a sd card or cable to load 2009 maps i only have the gps and the 12 volt cable how and what do i need to update my maps

Hi;

Any local electronics store can sell you the USB cable - make sure you get the mini-size connector on the end for your GPS (take the GPS into the store to be certain). The go to garmin.com and see what you want to purchase.

But - BEWARE! The garmin.com site will be glad to sell you map updates (for a ridiculously high price) that might not fit. Might be better off buying the maps on an SD card. I'm struggling right now with the Lifetime NA update for the nuvi 200W; can't get the entire map to fit, even though the original map purchased with the unit in Jan 2008 had all of NA. (can anyone help with this? I've tried all the obvious - deleting waypoints, languages, updating firmware, etc. Really bugs me!

You need to contact Garmin, and find out if this update CD will work with Vista, some do not if they where made before the driver on the cd was designed for Vista, the update cd that I just used would not, thus I did it on an XP pro system. And it worked ok

GARMIN 510 2009 MAPS

I'm quite sure you need to purchase the 2009 City Navigator SD card to update the maps. That what I did last year to get the 2008 City Navigator maps. You will need to leave the SD card in the unit to use the new maps though..

I haven't been able to determine whether it's possible to update the actual install map on the device. I'm guessing it's possible but would require a computer and an map update to write directly to the device. If I find steps to update the installed maps, I will post them here.
