Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook
The only way I can get my laptop to start up and get the screen to light up is to balance it on my knee (pressing in various places on the bottom). Often after it is on, the mouse will freeze and I have to do the same thing. sometimes it works perfectly---like now--other times I can barely use it
keep it simple please---i do not know a lot about the insides
Memory,hd or vga is not seated properly ...I'd start with removing mem and reseating it/them..next I'd check hd for bad sectors..two ways to do this ...get into the dos screen at startup(c:// prompt)
and type in chkdsk this will check and fix any found errors...in case you dont know ;if you boot with windows and select repair it will put pc into dos enviroment..
second way is to download a hd recovery program create a boot disk and write extracted files or iso to it..then boot the pc you want to check with it.you can check vga in device manager.
