SOURCE: my 18v ryobi cordless drill does not hold a drill

Make sure the screw for the chuck (down inside
the chuck) is tight this happened 2 me. Brought it back
2 h/d The clerk played with it and the chuck screw fell out.
They replaced the whole 4 pack instead of just the drill.

Drill disengages when spinning

Could be several things. If it is a reversible drill, the selector switch could be stuck between forward and reverse. If it is a variable torque (popular on battery drills) the torque setting could be real low. Also, I've had this problem with the gears inside the drill wear out. No easy fix for that. If it is an inexpensive drill it would be cheaper to replace it than to have it repaired.

Have b&d firestorm 14.5 volt cordless, forward and reverse switch broken older model but hate to throw it away. it is stuck in forward andhave two batteries and good charger throw away? or fix ?

Fix! We had the same problem, and when we opened up the case (8 screws and a pin later), we found that a tiny plastic tab had broken off the Forward/Reverse selector, which costs less than a dollar. We ordered it from a local supplier to avoid $10 shipping.

Having charged both batteries the drill will not work. It seems to not get any power.

Hi there, let me see if I can help.

1.Since this is a 4 piece kit, test the batteries in some of the other tools to make sure the batteries are good

2. This could be a malfunctioning unit, If you just bought it, take it back to the store and get a replacement, (you may have to take in all 4 and do a complete swap but most home improvement stores have no problem doing this)

3. The Forward and Reverse selector just above the trigger is stuck in the middle meaning, the drill is not in forward or reverse and when you press the trigger nothing happens. See Page 15 of this PDF for more information.

4. If none of this works, there is a Recall for that Battery Unit. Check This PDF to see if what you bought applies.

Hope this helps.

Dewalt drill model no dw563l-xw not hammering sounds okay but no power behind hammer stroke

The selector switch (hammer drill/drill) has to be fully set to the hammer drill position for it to work. Also, the bit has to meet some resistance for the hammer effect to be more pronounced. Make sure also that your forward/reverse switch is set to forward.

Nthing happens when I hit the swithch

Probably the switch but also check the selector for the forward and reverse as it may be in neutral or stuck in neutral. Check continuity of the switch and make sure switch is receiving power.

Lost reverse on right transaxel

could possibly have a broken selector fork on the transaxle, if so the transaxle will have to be pulled right down to repair the broken parts.

Your drill probably has a bad or stripped drive gear. Does the drill operate in forward w/a battery that is not fully charged but yet good.?
