HELLO
If your tube has gone and you are looking to replace it - my advice is don't bother - it will cost you dear in the end. The best thing to do is try to get another CRT TV set (maybe a different make/model).
It is a skilled job replacing a TV tube and should not be attempted by anyone who does not know what they are doing!!! In the wrong hands a CRT is dangerous and could cause serious injury if dropped or handled incorrectly (it makes one hell of a bang).
I wish you luck with it all the same (:-)

My tv has a black screen over picture can i replace picture tube myself

That tv has no tube, and if the screen is bad it will cost more for a new screen than the whole tv cost. Yes you can replace it but it's not worth it, I would have someone look at it as it might just be an inverter problem.

White lines across tv screen

Without seeing the lines I can't be sure what your set has wrong, but here are a some possibilities:

If the lines are lines are confined to the top inch or two of the screen and the picture looks otherwise normal, the trouble is bad capacitors in the vertical output circuit. Fixable by replacing the bad parts.

If diagonal lines are across the entire face of the picture tube and the picture looks washed out, the trouble is often a bad capacitor on the 200-volt line to the picture tube. This may be on the main circuit board near the horizontal output transformer, or on the small circuit board plugged onto the end of the picture tube. Again, replacing the bad capacitor can fix this.

If your TV is actually an RCA, someone may have bumped a rear-panel adjustment. On the back of the TV near the bottom right are two small knobs. RCA left these adjustments exposed inside of putting them inside the set like other manufacturers. These sometimes get bumped if someone was behind the set cleaning, or if a pet got back there and hit them with a tail. The top knob adjusts focus, and the bottom knob adjusts something called G2 or screen voltage. If this gets turned up too high it can cause the faded picture and diagonal white lines. Turn the adjustment down until a black screen looks black instead of gray.

A bad picture tube or horizontal output transformer can also cause lines through the picture. If this is the case with your set, it's time for a new TV. The transformer is relatively inexpensive but labor costs aren't, and the repair bill may exceed $200. If the tube is bad, there's no point even considering repair. The tube cost alone exceeds the cost of new TV.

Hopefully your lines are easy and cheap to fix. Good luck, and thanks for using Fixya!

Samsung CRT HDTV - Color Problem - Red, Blue, No Green

This will be a lack of green drive caused either by the green output transistor having failed or no green output from the driver IC. As to which you have depends on how old the TV is. These are located on the CRT base (square type board connected to the neck of the CRT. You would need a multimeter to check the voltages going to the green output on the crt. It is also very possible the CRT is internally faulty giving no green, if this is so, you will need the crt (tube) to be replaced,it is not very economical to do this now a days.

Sony KV-32S42 (See Description)

It may be a fruitless effort. The main reason this occurs is that the Picture Tube is drawing too much current and the AKB circuit will not let the video circuit diplay the picture. Outside
of replacing the Picture Tube there is no fix.
You can varify this by turning the screen control up. This is usaully located on the HV transformer and is marked. the other location it may be is on the CRT board. It also would be clearly marked. If you adjust this slightly and the picture appears, the Picture Tube is the problem. I'm betting 100% it's the Tube.
Hope this helps,

The A76JTS90X11 screen is a thin horizontal line. I had this repaired before, but the cost to have a service repair is high and the cost of new TV's are decreasing, so I wanted to try to repair myself. The...

The vertical IC either has bad connections or is defective. This is a small flat IC attached to a heatsink with about 9-11 pins. It may be marked LA7837, TAxxxx or something similar. If you can solder, you should be able to fix this yourself. Please note that there are potentially dngerous high voltages present even with the set unplugged. Try resoldering the pins of the IC first. If that failes to resolve the problem, replace the IC. Dan

Picture has lines going across

No picture tube is cheap to replace. Especially a Sony tube. And besides the cost of the tube there's the labor cost to install it and some tedious adjusting needs to be done to set up the replacement. When a picture tube fails it's time to replace the set.

Now having said all that, there are different kinds of lines that can show on the screen. Some are because the tube is bad, but others can come from less expensive parts on the circuit board in the set. Without seeing the lines for myself I can't tell you about yours. If you are wanting to keep the set, I would suggest having a qualified shop check it. The can tell you for sure if it's the tube or not, and give you an estimate for the cost of repair.

Horiznal line across screen

The picture tube itself is not longer being manufactured and the replacement might exceed the price of a new TV.
The vertical line you see on the picture tube is not a failure with the picture tube but a different part inside the circuitry.
