SOURCE: My cannon pixma ip 1600 keeps giving an error

Hello there
You may not see a paper jam, so this is worth trying.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Where can i find the serial mumber on my canon pixma mp495 printer tried all on bottom

PIXMA Printers and All-In-Ones
The serial number is located inside your PIXMA printer. To find it, open the printer lid as if you were to access the cartridges tray: the serial number is printed on a white sticker. Be careful to not confuse this number with the power supply serial number that can be found on the bottom of your printer.

Hope it helps.

Printer is on, all cords connected, but when asked to print gives the message "Printer not responding."

disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Reboot the system, once the system has completed reboot, plug in the USB cable between the PC and printer. The system should sense the printer and install the printer. Go to the printer folder in the control panel (START). You should see your printer. Select the printer, Double-click, Select File, Select Properties, Select Maintenance, Print Test Page.
This should clear the problem.
