Question about Sanyo HT32744 32" TV
This TV is only 2yrs old but it is already giving us trouble. Suddenly the picture will turn a ghastly shade of bile green, (faces looking like the Incredible Hulk) with an equally disturbing shade of blue for contrast. This event happens without warning, sometimes it looks like that when the set is turned on, sometimes we can watch it with a normal picture for hours and then it will suddenly change, there is no pattern to it. It affects the video too. Sanyo says a part needs replacing but when it went into the shop they only cleaned the contacts. It came back and worked perfectly for a month, now it has gone again. Sanyo is still offering to replace the part free of charge even though it is no longer under guarantee, but, (you guessed it) the electronics repair shop has very conveniently stopped servicing Sanyo. Any advice would be very welcome.
On mine I took the rear cabinet off, unseated the card mounted on the picture tube, applied a little dielectric grease on the connector on the card and reseated the card, removed, re-greased and reattached the card. I have had no problem with either my or mom's which I did the same to since! This is an easy fix that anyone can do. The hardest part is moving the TV and reassembling the rear cabinet. Do not pull the cabinet back out more than you have to, to ease the reassembly of it.

I usually find that the solder joints on the CRT board have cracked and cause this symptom. What you are describing indicates that the red gun is intermitten, and the solder joints on the CRT socket itself (red cathode) or the red output transistor have probably cracked loose.
