Dryer not heating up

I have a whirlpool ler463 and suddenly today, the dryer stopped heating up. It worked earlier in the morning, and then it just stopped. I believe that it is the heating elements, but I do not know the locations or how to check them. Could you help with this??

What you do is remove the rear dust cover. It could be the element located to the right, or it could very well be the Hi Limit mounted atop the heating element chamber. dryer not heating up - fd54e5e.jpg

Check your thermal limiter . It should look like a white bar about a inch long . You can find it on the blower housing

My whirlpool estate dryer has all of the sudden stopped heating up. What is the likely cause of the problem

I would check to see if your exhaust vent is clear first. I actually had a bird build a nest in mine once :) If that doesn't seem to fix the problem you most likely have a burned out heating element. Hope this helps :)

I inherited an older model whirlpool electric dryer when I moved in...there seems to be no heat...went to get clothes out this morning and they were still damp...I wasn't given a manual - and have...

Check the breakers, by FULLY turning it off and then back on. What happens, commonly, is the heat side of the 220 breaker trips. If it keeps happening, sometimes you need a new breaker, but DO NOT increase the amp rating of the breaker. Breakers that trip from time to time, eventually start tripping EARLIER.

My whirlpool dryer stopped working today and will not put out any heat, do you know what might be the cause? Model # leq9858pwo

Short answer if the dryer drum still runs, but there is no heat: 90% it's one or both of the heating coils. 10% it's the control switch or relay.
If the dryer will still start and the drum will still turn, find instructions for how to test the heating coils. The test for the coils must be done with the dryer UNPLUGGED! It will involve taking a panel off the dryer.

Dryer is not heating air

Sounds like the heating element or coil is out, but it could also be the board to. At any rate, if your not getting any heat what so ever, its more than likely electrical and its best to take it in. If it gets some kind of heat, then you might try cleaning out your dryer vents really good, and also in the dryer. Hope this helps.
