Question about KitchenAid KESA907PSS Electric Kitchen Range

Power to kitchenaid stove, model #YKESA907PS stopped suddenly

Hi,

We were cooking with the oven on and all 4 burners in use. Without warning everything quit and neither oven nor range show any power. Double checked circuit breaker and all is fine and even removed breaker from panel and breaker is fine. Does this stove have a hidden breaker or fuse somewhere (manual does not show this) or can you offer any suggestions.

Thanks

If the oven light, stovetop fluorescentlight, clock or range outlet does not function correctly, often theproblem can be a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker. Many electric ranges include a fuse in the 120-volt circuit that operates such items as oven and stove top lights, the electric clock, convenience outlets, etc. In order to check the fuses on your electric range, the following steps should be taken:

  1. Before repairs or testing can begin you must disconnect theelectricity at the fuse panel, at the circuit breaker panel, or bypulling the plug. Make sure the power is off before proceeding. A jolt from 220 volts can be fatal, use caution!

  2. Refer to the owner's manual or to the wiring diagram for yourelectric range to locate the fuse you need to examine. The type of fuseused in electric ranges is usually the plug-type. This type has athreaded metal base (similar to a light bulb's base) and a flat topmarked with an amperage rating. The fusible link is visible through aglass window in the top.

  3. Visually inspect the fuse to see if it has blown. The fusible linkis visible through a glass window in the top. If the fuse is good, thislink will be intact. If the fuse has blown due to an overload, thislink will be visibly broken. If the link is broken and the glass windowis also blackened, this indicates a short circuit. In either case, theproblem that caused the blown fuse MUST be identified and correctedbefore installing a new fuse of the correct amperage rating.
REMEMBER YOU ARE WORKING WITH VOLTAGE - USE EXTREME CAUTION!!!

    Servicing Fuses

    If
the range or oven is receiving power but doesn't work, the unit may
have its own fuse or circuit breaker assembly. This assembly is usually
located under the cooktop of the range. In some units, lift the top of
the range to gain access to the fuse assembly; or lift the elements,
remove the drip pans, and look on the sides of the cabinets. Inside the
oven, look to the back to spot the fuse assembly.

    If
the unit has this additional fuse or breaker system, components such as
the oven light, the range heating elements, the timer, and a
self-cleaning feature may be separately fused.

    If these
components or features fail to work, don't overlook the possibility
that the fuses have blown. To replace a blown fuse, unscrew the old
fuse and install a new one of the same type and electrical rating. If
the unit has circuit breakers, push the breaker or reset button, which
is usually located on the control panel.

Have the same problem w/my range as ds2 had w/his (below). All range elements quit working, but the cooktop still works fine. ds2 mentioned that he replaced a relay which corrected the problem. Can someone guide me on where this relay is and where I can buy one or any other suggestions for repairing the range. thanks
Your model# is just a partial number, if you could post the whole model# that would help us.

The relay is located on the electronic control board itself, you can test it with a volt meter with the oven turned on, before though, thats 240 volts, I suggest letting a qualified tech. do it, if you don't feel comfortable doing it.

What i do is ohm test the thermal fuse first if its equipped with one in the very back. Then ohm the bake and broil elements for continuity. Then if all that checks good, I do a voltage reading at the bake and broil elements themselves, if it doesn't get 240 volts between the 2 element terminals on the bake and broil separately, then you would need a new electronic control board.

ds2 didn't change the relay separately, he had to change the whole control board.....

Thanks.

What's wrong and how do I fix it?

The circuit breaker outside in the power panel for the stove has a bad breaker. It will be two breakers with their handles joined together by a pin so if one tripe it takes the other so 220 V is no longer present. When one, but not the other trips you only have 110 V. That's why the lights and clock still work but no heating elements.

Frigidaire Electric Range model FEF366EC - Oven disabled

You probably have a short that is causing the stove not to heat up or you not to be able to control temperature settings. The stoves are made only to last as long as the warranty, and when it expires, the stove all of a sudden wants to break down. You might have to get a whole new stove.
