Where is the water filter for my side by side refrigerator model #ED22CoXHW02? If behind the grill, how do I get the grill off?

  • Anonymous Mar 22, 2009

You can take off the grill by opening both fridge doors and pulling so that it detaches from the metal clips on the right and the left.

From what I have seen on mine, this model doesn't have a water filter.

To take off the bottom grill, you need to open both fridge doors and remove the plastic parts from the metal clips on the left and the right.

I've discovered that this model does not have a water filter.

Most refrigerators have the water valve in the rear of the unit which you can easily find. shut off the water supply line and unscrew the connection at the valve. it has a garden hose type connector. then with a small screw driver pop out the filter screen , run it under water until it's clean then re install it squarely in the valve reattach fill line and turn water back on. that's it

Hi, I have a KitchenAid KSSS48QDX05 refrigerator. I am no longer getting water at the door or to ice maker. I am thinking the cause is a clogged water filter (ten years old, has never been changed). ...

There is no filter on your refrigerator. I suspect the valve is bad. It is located behind the lower kick plate and is easily replaced.

I need to replace the filter. I have the filter but directions say to replace at bottom of refrigerator -- I have done it before and think it is somewhere in the middle of the freezer door. Help!

if this is the water dispenser filter
It is on the left side behind the bottom grille.
you turn it and, pull out.
be sure the water is off to the refrigerator before you replace it.

How do i take freezer door off a side by side frig that has water/ice options

usally a quick disconnect block for wireing harness on top freezer hing. There will be a water supply tube going up through bottom freezer hinge with a disconnect union fitting close by usally under refrig behind toe grill. once these are disconnected you can then take top hinge off of main part of refrig. by taking screws off on top of upper freezer hinge. you then should be able to lift door off by lifting up on door and water line should slide up and through the bottom hinge.

Water in door not working. I haven't changed the filter in a long time...

Is the ice maker working ? If so , the filter is not the problem . At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

No water getting to ice water or ice maker but the supply line to refrig has good flow when disconnected and put in a bucket! Where is the filter?

Sure you have a filter? On Kenmores the filter will be at the bottom of the fridge in the lower grill. If you see a round cap in the grill, then there it is. Another place is in the roof of the refrigerator compartment. If you see a plastic housing hanging from the roof then there it is. It possibly does not have a filter. It is pretty rare that a filter would be the problem though. It is probably either the water valve in the back of the refrig or a clog somewhere.

I have a friend with a Whirlpool ED5PHAXMB00. It's producing ice, and dispensing ice, but no water will dispense. She changes the filter evey time the light comes on, so am thinking it's not that. Have...

Some refrig's , water goes to filter first , some thru water valve first and then the filter . On this model , it goes to the water valve first , then the filter .
1) never change the filter just because the light says to . Only replace when icecubes get small or when water flow from dispensor slows . A filter can last 6 mths- 1yr. and sometimes longer .
2) the resevoir is in the refrig section , behind the lower crispers
3) the water valve is probably the problem

Did the icemaker and water dispensor quit at the same time ? Your model has the 2 lines coming from the top ( filter ) behind the refrig . One line to the wall water line to filter and the other coming down to the water valve . Do you have the filter bypass piece that came with the refrig ? Use it to test . Remove the back panel . If both stopped at the same time , check the connector that the wires connect to . With 2 connectors on each solenoid , those 3 or 4 wires go to a seperate plug in . Check this plug in . If wireing seems ok , remove the larger tubing from the valve by pushing in on the white ring and pulling the tubing out at the same time . Press the water dispensor , and see if water comes out of the valve . If it does , (you said you disconnected the tubing below the freezer door and no water came out while activating the water dispensor ) then the tank at rhe bottom of the refrig section behind the crispers , is frozen . To thaw , use a hair dryer with the light bulbs in the refrig section , unscrewed slightly . This is only for the water dispensor . For the icemaker , disconnect the smaller tubing , while someone else , turns the icemaker on and off several times to see if the valve momentarily opens each time the icemaker is turned on and off . I think the water valve wiring plug , has something to do with this because I have never found a G E where both quit at the same time without it being that plug ( 2 times ).

Water leaking from bottom of unit

For original poster: Check all milky white colored (polyethelne) plastic water lines. These lines tend to get brittle and can crack over a period of time. They extend from the water valve to the ice maker, and from the water valve to the inside of the refrig to a "radiator" so the water can chill, before it runs back out the refrig, past the left side of the refrig behind the bottom grill, through a coupler, and up through the bottom hinge of the freezer door. I'd also advise putting in a separate shut off for the water supply to the refrig so you can have water to the rest of your house when you have a problem with the refrig.

For next user with similar problem: you can check the above, but it may be that the defrost drain is plugged. (on a S x S unit, it is located at the bottom of the freezer compartment, behind the back wall.) If you have a layer of ice on the floor of the freezer, that's a dead give away of a blocked defrost drain tube, Use a turkey baster with hot (not boiling) water to flush it out.

Is there a filter to be changed ar cleaned on the water dispenser?

Remove the water filter

Yes if it is the filter that is located where the bottom grill is..... It rotates 1/4 trun counter clockwise. If you cant seem to break it loose try removing the grill by pulling it towards you (it clips on) take not of the tabs on the grill and the clips on either side of the fridge. Now you can get a better grip. Also its a good time to look and see how dirty coil is under refrig.
