What kind of microwave oven is this? A counter-top model or an over-the-range microwave? Do you have a brand and model number? And which light bulb do you want to replace - the cavity light bulb, or the bottom light(s) of an OTR microwave?

The top panel above the door has screws this panel comes off and the light bulb is below that

Does it go straight to full heat even though it is on the low setting. If this is the case the hotplate controller is faulty and requires replacement.

Hello- Glass bulbs don't make very good handles, do they? Find a good tech to check wiring behind bulb socket. May have burned a connection, and or grounded a wire somewhere. Electric ranges have two 110v circuits that work in combination. One is out. Let me know if info helps- have more if needed- Thanks- ED

Hello- Control is about 250$. Could save 100$ by installing yourself, but the popular "self-destruct" cycle can cook other switches and what-not. Find a tech and inquire up-front if completed repairs are too high, they keep parts, you pay trip charge.- Hope this helps- ED

Could be the sensor inside the oven.Mine burnt out when using the self clean feature. Two screws un-plug replace with new. Part less than 15 dollars

there should be a little wire over the glass cover flip it down and unscrew the bulb like any other bulb
