Question about Quasar SP-3233 TV

Picture too dark

Our television's brightness was somehow set to one of the lowest levels, and then the remote was lost during our recent move. How can we adjust the brightness without the remote? There don't seem to be the correct buttons on the front of the set. The picture is so dark that most darker scenes look completely black

Mkbowen,

whats the brand name of your TV?

also try this, facing the front of your screen. locate a button indicating " menu" and click it.
once the menu button been activated there would be a display box indicating "AUDIO" "VIDEO" "TUNNING" or in some cases the screen will indicate one by one setting every time you press the "menu" button. If you'll able to find a display indicating "video" higlight the said icon and navigate throught it until you see the control for brightness. you can navigate the icon by pressing +/- channel button and to change the value of selected item you need to press +/- volume button of the screen.

cheers ,
mark

My television screen went dark. I can get sound but no picture. I suspect that I rolled over on the remote and did something. However with no picture I don't know how to fix it.

The only thing I can think of is you somehow selected brightness when you rolled onto the remote and turned it right down, however if the TV is ok selecting such options would usually put a scale onto the screen regardless of how the brightness/contrast is set.

You might have damaged the remote. There have been incidences of remotes overheating when a button is kept pressed for an extended period and have even been blamed for causing a housefire.

Your tv might have some basic function controls on the set, perhaps behind a little door or somewhere at the back.

CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT

it is best to shut the color level to the lowest setting then try t balance the screens to achieve the best black and white picture. then turn up your color level. Your brightness level should also be set to 50 % then when you adjust for the best B&W picture. You will have better color and brightness when you reset your color and brightness levels.

I am further looking into ur problem..

Goodluck..

I have a Visio TV that automatically dims during dark scene of movies. How can I fix this?

Hello:
There are several settings on your Vizio TV that could be causing this effect. Follow these directions to turn them off:
  1. Press "MENU" on your remote control
  2. Use the Left and Right Arrow buttons to select "Picture Adjust" (Far left)
  3. Use the Up and Down Arrow buttons to select "Advanced Video" (Bottom)
  4. Press the ">" button to enter the Advanced Video menu
  5. These menu options could affect the brightness and contrast of the picture:
    A. Black Level Extender
    B. White Level Extender
    C. Adaptive Luma
  6. Use the Up and Down Arrow buttons to select each menu option
  7. Use the Left and Right Arrow buttons to toggle these settings On and Off
  8. Once you have changed the desired settings, press the "MENU" button to exit the menu

The overall picture is much darker. Night scenes are almost impossible to see.

The brightness settings must have been changed somehow. Just go into your tv menu (there should be a menu button on your remote). Navigate to Picture Settings (this maybe different but there should be something similar) and move the brightness slider up but not too much or the picture will begin to look "washed out". Hope that helps.

check your video settings there are 3 or 4 usually that all have various levels of brightness, it may be set to one of thelower ones. or you can go into tv menu and try kicking up the brightness. if no luck the lamp may be failing if not recently replaced they begin to make screen darker before they fail.

Adjusting darkness

Hi Angel,
Are you really sure , your set has video? How dark is it ? As if really nothing visible? Am, sure you can hear sounds. You can adjust the brightness + button to increase the brightness. But if nothing happens , you have problem with your TV set. The problem might be in the Video section. Please let an expert technician to check it. Please don't do it by yourself, it's risky.
Please send feedback whatever comes up. So we can help you further in the future.

Thanks,
