Question about Quasar SP-3233 TV

Picture too dark

Our television's brightness was somehow set to one of the lowest levels, and then the remote was lost during our recent move. How can we adjust the brightness without the remote? There don't seem to be the correct buttons on the front of the set. The picture is so dark that most darker scenes look completely black

Mkbowen,

whats the brand name of your TV?

also try this, facing the front of your screen. locate a button indicating " menu" and click it.
once the menu button been activated there would be a display box indicating "AUDIO" "VIDEO" "TUNNING" or in some cases the screen will indicate one by one setting every time you press the "menu" button. If you'll able to find a display indicating "video" higlight the said icon and navigate throught it until you see the control for brightness. you can navigate the icon by pressing +/- channel button and to change the value of selected item you need to press +/- volume button of the screen.

cheers ,
mark

Zenith pvr6069 rk is out of focus for letters and picture not very bright

First this set should have a production date on the rear of around 1995--fairly old.

If letters outlined in red etc--a convergence problem--either adjustment with remote (in menu) or a circuit problem in same area.

If picture dull and darker--locate the 3 large lens inside from the rear and wipe them clean--they are the light source for the sets picture and if dirty will cause a dark dull picture.

Let me know if questions.

I just need to adjust the resolution on this TV. NO ONE at RCA could seem to help me. Thank you.

hi,
did u mean to adjust the picture setting then go for the following
1 press menu on the remote
2. using down arrow select picture quality and press ok. available options in picture quality and its use is listed below. you can use it according to your preference.

Basic Picture Control- Displays the five slider controls for adjusting

the way the picture looks.

Contrast Adjusts the difference between the light and dark areas

of the picture.

Color Adjusts- the richness of the color

Tint Adjusts the balance between the red and green levels

Black Level Adjusts the brightness of the picture

.

Sharpness Adjusts the crispness of edges in the picture.

When exiting this menu, the Save Personal Picture Preset choice list will

appear. You can choose either Yes or No. If you save the settings as a

Personal Picture Preset, the TV will store the settings so you can reselect

them easily if someone changes the settings.

Picture Presets Displays- a choice list that lets you select one of three

preset picture settings: Bright Lighting, Normal Lighting, Soft Lighting

or Personal Picture Preset. Choose the setting that is best for your

viewing environment.

Auto Color Displays- a choice list that lets you turn on the feature that

automatically corrects the color of the picture. (This is especially useful

for tracking realistic flesh tone colors as you switch from channel to

channel.) Choose On or Off, depending on your preference.

Color Warmth Displays- a choice list that lets you set one of three

automatic color adjustments: Cool for a more blue palette of picture

colors; Normal; and Warm for a more red palette of picture colors. The

warm setting corresponds to the National Television Standards

Video Noise Reduction Displays- a choice list that lets you turn on the

feature that automatically reduces noise from the picture. Audiovariable

enables the TV to automatically adjust noise reduction level;

reduction.

The picture is really dark even though I have the brightness set to a hundred percent

brightness isn't brightness, its technically called white level, as for the fault, probably a power supply issue, also turn the brightness down as having it set to high can cause long term damage to the tube.

I have a Samsung 42" DLP. During the daytime I can hardly see the people and definition on the screen. It is all very dark. Nightime is better.

check your video settings there are 3 or 4 usually that all have various levels of brightness, it may be set to one of thelower ones. or you can go into tv menu and try kicking up the brightness. if no luck the lamp may be failing if not recently replaced they begin to make screen darker before they fail.

Comes on by itself, shutsdown when i change channels

Try to change the channels without the remote control ie with buttons below the TV set. If it works then you need to get your remote serviced. There might be some stuck keys in the remote.
This may happen at any time or possibly after being on for awhile in which something heats up and drifts out of spec. The low voltage regulator may be letting the voltage rise excessively. Then, a dark picture or video muting during a channel change triggers the X-ray or power supply over-voltage protection.
Monitor the output of the low voltage power supply B+ to see if it is stable as the brightness/scene changes.

There is no brightness control inside the set. You control the brightness and other picture adjustments with the remote control. If the brightness level is already at its normal setting, the problem is in the TV's video stage and is caused by some component failure. It's not possible to suggest any specific parts to check, and you should see about having the set serviced by a professional who would have the service information and tools to diagnose and repair the trouble.

The picture on my JVC TV is too dark

On the inside of the TV, on the flyback transformer there should be two controls. Turn the one that says "screen" very slowly clockwise while looking at the pix. The pix should get brighter as you turn it up- if you go to far you will see lines in the pix or the TV may shutdown.
