Check the paper type and paper size in the Printer Properties. Set them according the actual paper used in the printer. Check the paper size in your document you want to print. Correct, if differs from the printer's paper size.
check the wheels that pick it from the tray. If they feel smooth, try to put some tape on them and rip it back off. This cleans the wheels. Also try a new pack of paper and check if it\'s set to plain paper and not to heavier or coated paper
If are using Vista or Windows 7 operating system, go to VIEW at the top of the document you are going to print and in the drop down under VIEW select and click on the FOOTER & HEADER and click on it.Then when the Footer & Header page comes up DELET everything in both of them and then on the right of the Footer & Header click on CLOSE and it should take care of the problem.
This also applies to other Operating System’s. Hope this helps, Bud

if you using office go to page setup and select the tray(s) that you want to use for the first page and other pages ( both must be the same ) unless you only want the first page as letter head and the rest on plain paper or something along those lines ?
Also if you go into the properties of the printer and go to advanced and then click on the printing defaults button and see if the options in there are the same or different to whats in printing preferences.
If they are set to tray 1 then it will default to tray 1
I think what is happening is when you get the error, the printer automaticaly reprints the page it was on when it got an error condition that makes it think it didn't print the page correctly. The clearing paper path message comes up after it thinks it had a jam. Displaying load plain paper could be because either the printer is not configed for the correct type of paper you have in the tray you are trying to prin form(push the green check button, arrow downt to paper handling and see what your trays are set for.) Also there is a blue switch on the tay(looking for front of tray it will be on the right hand side of tray rail) the switch says standard or custom. The switch should be in the standard position.
Are you getting any errors or jams, if so, tell me what they are.

This item appears only when the optional envelope feeder is installed. Set the value to correspond with the envelope type currently loaded in the envelope feeder. TRAY 1 MODE= FIRST FIRST CASSETTE Determine how the printer will use Tray 1. FIRST: If paper is loaded in Tray 1, the printer will pull paper from that tray first. TRAY 1 SIZE= LETTER For supported paper sizes see page 1-12. This item appears only when TRAY 1 MODE= CASSETTE. Set the value to correspond with the paper size currently
This is the natural process for the you the user to make sure that you have the correct media in the manual feed. You can change this in the paper handling menu within the menu options set the tray 1 media type to plain and auto continue also correct paper size. You can also put the paper back into the main cassette and this will not cause the problem.
