SOURCE: The laptop starts up with a pink hue

Make sure the LCD is completely attached to the system board. I've had them come partially out and cause this. If this doesn't help, your LCD and/or inverter could be going bad.

If you connect the monitor to a laptop's "video-out", do you get correct colours, or do you still get the "orange" ??

If so, then the monitor is the problem.

My DELL external monitor just turned PINK... I can adjust the colors from the legend within the monitor but cannot change it back to the original white display.

The nature of your problem not software. This is hardware problem.
Either you have a broken, loose, bent pin in your VGA connector or VGA convertor board in the monitor is damaged. First try changing the VGA cable. If that doesn't work, send it to a repair shop. But compare the price of repair and buying a new one. These days buying is more reasonable than repairing.
But wish you it was only the VGA cable. Good luck.

Monitor Problems

A pink or red tint indicated that florescent back light bulbs that light up the monitor are going out. When they start to die they out out red or pink light instead of white light like they should. They bulbs are replaceable but not easy for someone not familiar with this type of repair. Parts would run about $30 plus shipping and are available online but it may not be worth the repair on the monitor due to age.

Moniter background is pink instead of white.

Hello gladyshbrown,
If the background is the only thing that is pink, then this will be as simple as changing your background color. the process is different depending on the operating system you are using, but if you right click on an empty space in your desktop chose either properties, or personalize. then choosing desktop.
If however this is not just affecting your background, meaning everything has a pink hue to it then it is most likely a hardware problem. To test this you can change to a different monitor, if the pink hue is gone then it is most definitely the monitor. However if the problem is the same on both monitors, then that would mean that your graphics card has gone bad. Many Pc's bought from dell, or hp have both video cards, and on board video. If this is the case with your Pc, you can move the monitor cable from where it is connected now, to the identical connection on the back of the computer. If you do switch to an on board video, please turn off your computer before plugging it in. This way when your computer is turned back on it will recognize that you are using a different video source. Most computers will do this automatically, however if it does not you will need to go into the "bios(cmos)" and enable onboard video. The option for bios is given as the computer first starts up. The key varies but it will be one of the following f1,f2,f10, or delete.
Good luck!

LG E1940S Monitor displays with a pink hue. I am using with a T40 ThinkPad and XP

A pink hue is a sign the CCFL lamp is about to fail.
The CCFL lamp is a fluro like tube approx. 2mm in diameter that is located on the bottom edge of the LCD screen that supplies the back light to the screen.
Replacement CCFL lamp is available from this WEB site.

I added the E196fp to my older dell computer with win 98 from my newer dell with win xp.The whole thing has a pinkish hue to it and is very dark

mklotz, Try looking at the vga connector end and make certain all the brass pins are not bent or broken or recessed down into the connector body housing. If connector ok, then connect, disconnect, reconnect a few times and try to see if the PINK has changed to WHITE. If still PINK, then reseat the video card in pc. If still PINK screen, Then monitor may need to be repaired. CCFL ballast circuit repaired and/or CCFL lamps have too many hours on them and they also will need replacement. Report your findings here with additional info for me. 12fixlouie
