Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator
My friend was over last night and heard the refridgerator make this loud ba-dum sound and said her mothers did the same right before it quit working, it has been about a week that it has been making the sound, on and off. Sounds as if something is ending then ba-dum, or ba-dum and something is started?? Please Help! I just went shopping and would have to freeze everything in my garage...12 degrees outside, a foot of snow and well I hope I can fix it or get help fixing it. Thank you to all you intelligent, mechanical, knowledgable people!!!!! Teresa
I am not sure when yours is making the noise, but I have a GE side by side and mine would make a similar noise when the compressor shut off. Check your warranty paperwork, I think GE has a warranty on the compressor for 5 years. It sounds like your compressor is going bad. If its in warranty, remember " the squeaky wheel gets the oil" complain until they fix it.
Sometimes when the repairman is there, it takes a little pushing to get them going in the right direction and to acknowledge compressor problems. Mine has a new compressor and runs like a champ.
