pull the battery out, put it back in, plug in the ac power, turn on,
    try again.
does the green light appear on the charging unit itself?

There was an issue with the ibooks and older powerbooks (wallstreet) that the pmu would stop charging at about 10%. Apple released an app to fix it,but you must be running os 8/9 to use the app. the apple download and description can be found here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60655

It;s brand new. How do I get it to operate. I've charged the battery but when I open the phone it's dead.

Thanks for writing Fixya. I am Marion and let me help you with this.
Please be reminded that brand new phones or newly purchased phones should be charged around 8 straight hours because the battery is definitely drained.
I would highly suggest you to charge the battery for 8 straight hours and try to open your phone if it work.
Now, if you still encounter the same issue. It would be best if you bring the [hone to the nearest service center since it is still covered with warranty.
Hope this was helpful. If you have any queries, please feel free to contact us back.

HI FRIEND A BATTERY WORKS ABOUT 1HOUR AND 30 MINUTES TO 2 HOURS MAXIMUM WHEN IS FULLY CHARGED. SO I SUPPOSE YOUR MIGHT NEED REPLACEMENT BECAUSE IT IS POSSIBLE TO START HAVING WORKING PROBLEM.SO I SUGGEST TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE AND IT WILL WORK PERFECT

The battery won't hold a charge. it's a brand new

Have you checked the pins (the points that the battery takes power from the laptop)? Try cleaning them with alcohol and check loose contact.

Try these and in case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.

HP Pavilion DV5000 battery charging problem

Sounds like you need to calibrate the battery, it is supposed to be done every 3 months. If it is not done, your battery will display the same symptoms are you describe. Yes, this holds true for adding a new battery also.

Here is HP's instructions on how to do it. You want to scroll down to the section called "Calibrate the notebook PC battery".

My battery will not charge it is brand new.

Just because it's new doesn't mean it's not defective. Dell is known for lousy batteries, so return it and get another one.

Notebook won't turn on or charge (new charger and new battery)

Hi,

The New battery will not be charged yet, I wouldn't of thought, until you plug it in and charge it.

your problem is with the connector inside the Pc, that the charger connects to,

This has come lose and is now failing,
$150/$200 to repair the connection.

Richard.

Help

I have a brand new one with the same problem I contacted Jabra Support in AU on 1800 636 086 They advise that it is dead batery if yeaft for a very long time with out charge the batery will die and will not charge.

If its under waranty they will advise to send it back to them and repalces it with a new 2008 model.

Another isssue is look at the date, on the side of the box. My brand new one said 20/07 indicating it had been on the shelf 1 year before it was shipped.

Hope this helps
