Power supply is ok have a green light was working fine but just went black

If this problem is related to IP board it can be easily repaired as IP board of this line of monitors is a simple fault tolerent SMPS supply inverter side may have the fault of burned paired NP mosfet and on the other hand CCFL lamp can also be easily and cheaply changed.

    Samsung 153V LCD Monitor Power Supply Repair Tips

    Troubleshooting Samsung 153V LCD power supply is just like troubleshooting those CRT type. This monitor came in with no power symptom. If you are first time repairing this type of power supply, I recommend you to first remove the switch mode power transformer. Then test every single component in the primary section, before you continue to check the secondary section.

    You have to be good in testing basic electronic components in order to detect the fault. You can always browse through my website just in case you do not know how to test basic electronic components. If you do not know the right way to check, you might miss out a bad component and this will lead you not able to solve the problem. After carefully checking all the components in the power supply section, I found the filter capacitor do not have any reading using digital capacitance meter (open) , the two round type fuse also open circuit, 1N4744 15 Volt zener diode short circuit and lastly the power IC TOP247F blown!.

    Testing the SMPS (switch mode power supply) primary winding with a **** smith fly-back tester, shows green bar which indicates good winding. What we left here were the secondary diode and filter capacitor. Upon checking them with analog meter and ESR meter, found all of them to be good condition. Other area like main board and inverter board also looks okay (Power failure rarely affect these two circuit). Now we have confirmed that only five components found to be faulty.

    One by one the components were replaced (except one fuse) and just before you switch on the power supply, make sure you connect a 100 watt light bulb across the live ac line. Once it is done you can then proceed to switch on the LCD monitor to look at the brightness of the bulb.
    If it very bright, this suggests that there are still short circuit somewhere in the power section. If it dim or totally goes off, you can now place your red probe to the secondary side to check if any dc present at their respective line. If there are DC voltages present at the output, you can switch off the power, discharge the filter capacitor (for safety purposes), remove the light bulb and connect back the new fuse to its original location.

    You are now hundred percent sure that the LCD power supply won’t blow once you switch it on. By the way the filter capacitor is rated at 105 Celsius and you cannot replace it with the 85 Celsius type otherwise it may open up again after using for couple of weeks or months. The ventilation in LCD monitor is not as good as the cathode ray tube monitor, because the power supply is fully covered by a large aluminum plate and it can get hot pretty fast.

    Conclusion, whether you are repairing Samsung 153V LCD power supply or other brand of LCD monitor, the procedure is the same. Who knows the power problem in this monitor is a common fault and in the future you can tackle this brand of power supply in the shortest time. To measure electronic components is not that difficult, but to get the original parts like the power IC will consume you lots of time.

It is either the Inverter board inside or the ccfl is faulty. Don't waste time, not worth to repair.

My samsung sincmaster 153v black screen but still a picture


Time for a new one. Most likely the inverter for the backlight is burned out. It's not a difficult replacement but by the time you've located one, paid for it and spent two hours replacing it in a monitor that old you've spent more money and time than buying a brand new 17"-24" would cost. Time to treat yourself to at least 1920x1080

I have SyncMaster 2233BW with a screen problem. Once I turned it on it will flashes display then in a second or two the screen will turns black. Press power button again it will comes on then turns black...


did you check the output dc voltage at the power supply board if stable. if ok tried to disconnect first the supply going to the power inverter board of screen back light just to ensure if not the cause of shut down.

check caps on the power supply and replace with good and of the same rating. if not then maybe your backlight is gone

Samsung Syncmaster 710N PROBLEM !!!


Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder jopints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). ckeck out your power cable or adopter or if it is ok than the fault in one of these 1- Power Button 2- Power IC 3- Transistors 4- Output Capsitor

Was searching the web and screen went black,,power light is on but no screen,,no menu screen,,cant hit auto seek,,nothing,,to me seems like the tube is blew out,,any suggestions?repair price?


whats the light on the towere if the light is stedy green then the tower is ok so unplug the data cable from tower and turn on the monitor then if it run the self test then monitor is ok if its not yiu need to repair or replace the screen

Sounds like the invertor board in the monitor is bad or the LCD screen has had it and needs replacing.

Samsung SyncMaster 192N loses picture; requires re-boot


Unfortunately, you two have two unrelated problems. CB, the monitor isn't asking you for the password, that's the computer itself going into hibernation, which shuts down the video output, hard drive, etc. You need to go into the power-save settings and either disable hibernate, or change the settings to your liking.

The other question about the screen staying on for 5 seconds... thats an inverter board problem.
