Many errors after installing a new HDD on samsung R480 laptop

I installed a new hard drive because I was getting the message "The driver has detected that device \Device\Harddisk has predicted that it will fail. Immediately back up your data and replace your hard drive. A faliure may be imminent." but I can't read my windows product key on the bottom of my laptop. I tried key finder but it doesn't seem to match it found CQBVJ-9J697-PWB9R-4K7W4-2BT4J Also now I start getting a popup that says "This computer is not running genuine Windows". I click the "Resolve Online Now" link and download the software. When I try to run it, I keep getting the following error: "Update installation failed: Error information - 0xC80000247". When I click properties on my computer it says it's genuine and verified??? Also I can't update windows after I installed the new hard drive I get the error message "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer." Please HELP....

HI , there ,

Did you back up your data ? if so just recconect your old hard drive if you didnt format it and run windows go to my computer right click and click properties scroll down the the bottom and you should be able to see your product key jot that down and reconnect your new hard drive install windows and enter the product key.

as for the windows updates look up the error messages , you might have to copy the folder and delete the old oneas sometimes the donwload folderr gets corrupt.

Hope this helps .

Hello,
The issue is with the driver compatibility.
First I would ask if the recovery is latest?
Or else after the recovery update it with the web so as to get the latest service pack like sp3 for windows xp.

Second thing is that you can try to download the latest driver from the lexmark manufacturer.
Sometime with the latest driver update and will correct the the bugs.
Try this...

SOURCE: I am unable to log

This issue may occur if the user profile was manually deleted by using the command prompt or Windows Explorer by a user or by some program. A profile that is manually deleted does not remove the security identifier (SID) from the user profile list in the registry. Since the SID is still present, Vista will still try to load the profile by using the ProfileImagePath that points to a nonexistent path. Therefore, the profile cannot be loaded.
This can also be a issue with the user profile entering into a backup state.
Manually renaming the C:\Users\(User Name) folder.

to solve this issue, you will need to visit the microsoft support website below and read the help available: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215/en-us

If you have wiped the old hard drive using the partition command there isn't much you can do if the cd drive will not work. The CD drive being a problem is common in this model HP laptop. I'm not sure that laptop will support Windows 7, you need to check the HP website and see if they offer a download for the drivers for that model for Windows 7, if not you may want to reconsider this change since Windows 7 will not work with Windows Vista drivers. If you did not repartition the hard drive then the recovery or factory installation is still present on the main hard drive. The drive was split into 2 drives. C: which you have always used and D: which holds all the recovery information and installation disk.

Hi there! Yesterday I was installing Windows XP

Sorry to hear your having issues installing the OS.

There is two problems your facing one is the disk is so scratched that the system can not read the disk or the hard drive has bad sectors or clusters which are failing when being written to.

You have two options to fix this one is to make sure the cd is clean an or replace your hard drive.

General disk read error message tend to be from hard drive cylinder's.
