Re: direct tv has snow in picture cant see nothing
First, how is the receiver connected to your TV? If it's via coax, the most likely culprit is the coax from the TV to the rcvr. If you wiggle the coax and the snow goes away, you've found the answer. If it goes away, either get a new piece of coax or tighten the connection at both ends.

Hi Octavia, I would be happy to assist you with your issue. It sounds like you are experiencing what we call a black screen with Banner. Please reset the receiver by unplugging it from the power outlet for 10 seconds and then when you plug it back in, allow the receiver to reboot and then the picture should come back. If you are still having issues and need additional assistance, please feel free to PM DISH directly on facebook here: http://goo.gl/dgbNL Thank you!

Hi nelle_king my name is MikeHouston of DISH Network. There are a couple things we can do to get thatpicture back. What you will need to do is make sure the TV is on channel 3 orthe right input, and if the picture is still snowy and we are on the correctchannel/input you will need to reset the receiver by unplugging it for 10seconds and plugging it back in. After you plug it back in it will power up byitself and you should see the DISH Network screen. I will send the steps tohelp with the setup.
Sequentially follow the below steps until problem is resolved or until instructed to skip to another step
Verify HDMI Connections
Verify HDMI cables are connected from the DISH receiver HDMI Out to the HDMI In of the Revue, and the HDMI Out of the Revue to the HDMI In of the TV.
Reset Revue and DISH Receiver
Unplug both the Revue and DISH receiver for 10 seconds and plug back in. It may take up to 5 minutes for the reset process to be completed.
Check Receiver-to-TV Configuration
Check that the wiring between your DISH receiver and your TV is configured properly using http://www.dish.com/wiring.
Secure Receiver-to-TV Connections
Check that the connections between your DISH receiver, your TV, and any component(s) (VCR, DVD Player, etc.) in between are secure.
Bypass the Revue and directly connect the DISH receiver to the TV using an HDMI cable.

If your directtv hdtv receiver occasionaly pauses for 30 seconds and freeze and the only troublshooting steps that you do is to press the power button for 10secs or unplug the power-hard reset for 15secs. please do this steps 1. check if the software version of your receiver is updated, how to? got to the sysinfo of your receiver by pressing the sysinfo button on your remote or front panel of the hd receiver, write down on a piece of paper the version, then exit the sysinfo, run a check switch test, you need to access the menu of your receiver, once your done with the check switch and test.. turn off the power of your receiver by pressing the power button on the remote, make sure that there are no lights lit so that the satelite will automatically download the software if its outdated and if nothing happen it means that your software is updated. after all the steps that you did, by running the check switch and test.. still problem exist.. call the directtv tech support for the replacement of your hd dvr receiver, this is a dvr lost of function. I have experience that symptoms on my hd dvr receiver as well with one of the sat provider..

Had repair man come. The coax connection going to TV from receiver had went bad in the receiver. The other connectors in box worked but not the coax anymore that is why the box worked on other TV since using video and sound cables. Got new box for signing up for another 18 months with Direct TV. Didn't have to have splitter to just get Satalite so that wasn't the problem at all. Any of the splitters I had would have worked.
Did the cable person take a reading on the signal level at the cable outlet on the wall and did the cable person check the TV setting to make sure they are correct. TV could be set on the wrong channel also.
