Question about Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Calculator

TI-84 Plus calculator without ~ | or y keys

I bought a TI-84 Plus calculator for my daughter several years ago. Now my son needs it for school but the manual is gone, and the on-line manual seems to be describing a calculator with different keys than ours. For example, we don't seem to have "~" or "|" or "y" keys. We've got "2nd" and "Alpha" and "Math."

How can I perform functions like 15 to the 365th power?

Thanks.

Type 15 then click a button that looks like this^. then 365. Then hit enter. it is like a normal clcutor except with more function. Sometimes you need to use the 2nd and the alpha button to do some functions.

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

My for the TI 84 Plus Silver Edition screen doesn't work. I changed he batteries including the back-up. The screen won't light up. I bought this calculator around 3 years ago.

Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If that doesn't work, remove all four AAA batteries. Press and hold the ON key for ten seconds. Replace the batteries.

If that doesn't fix it, please append a comment to this post and we'll go on from there.

Ti85

kinda. The TI-85 programs differently, lacks a table feature, is not upgradable, has redefinable keys, has a larger screen, is smaller, energy efficient, TI-86 semi-compatible, and is older.
The TI-84+ has archive memory, flash-upgradable, FSTN (clearer) screen, 16*8 screen, USB On-The-Go compliant, almost a centimeter longer, assembly language support, and a tad bit faster.

TI-82: $89
TI-83 Plus: $79-99
Free TI-85: $0
TI-84 plus: $119.99
TI-84+SE: $129-139
TI-89 Titanium: $149
