i ahve a rinnai enersaver 1004f model gas heater and i recently noticed that after several minutes sometimes just 2 minutes, the heater stops giving heat and the number 14 shows from the small LED where the set timer and room temperature is situated
#14 is the code for over heat. Clean the circulating fan and blower blades. If there is anything on the top of the heater it need to go. Check the sides to make sure nothing is obstructing the air entering the back of the unit.

The thermostat seems off as we have the temperature set at 60 degrees and, although the room temperature on the heater says 58, we are all moving around in short sleeves so it must be in at least the 70s! Is there a way to adjust the thermostat?
