Question about E-Machines eMachines Refurbished EMA SYSTEM BOARD MODEL T2984 eMachines (102257) PC Desktop

2 emachines won't boot

My emachine T2984 would not boot. No power of any kind. I assumed power supply. I had another emachine (T2625) that was working at the time. I took the power supply from the T2984 and installed it in the T2625 and the T2625 worked. Can I rule out the power supply as a problem? If so, could it be something other than the motherboard?

However, when I returned the original power supply to the T2625, it now does not boot. What have I done?

"It does not boot" makes me think that it IS turning on. Is this the case, and if so, how far does it get in booting?

Power supply switch is on 1 and not zero? All wires connected? I would start by cleaning connections with an eraser.

Are you attaching them properly
if so then it is something other then power supply
something has caused both power supplies to blow
have you installed anything in the first emachine you talk about

Fitted 1GB RAM yesterday, computer worked fine, today started okay, but later on it had turned the power off and will not power up now (emachne 32300

If you get no power, it sounds like possibly the power supply may be bad. If you can replace the power supply with known working unit, that would be a good start. If at that point you still get no power, then possibly the motherboard could have gone bad. Even without the ram installed you should get power through the board and when you try to boot you should get a beep or series of beeps. I would start with the power supply tho.

Hello, my emachines e4259 shutts down after boot up., i tried to install another version of vista but itts still stutting down in install program. what can it be?

If it is physically shutting off (like someone yanked the power cord) than it is a power supply

If the computers screen goes black, but the computer still runs, it could be RAM or a motherboard failure

IM connecting a OKIA LC-8460BTX POWER SUPPLY TO MY EMACHINES T2984. I cannt figure out where the wires are placed.

There should be a photo of the board and instruction on where the leads are fitted if you browse the manufacturers web site and input the model of the unit you are refitting.

I have found this site, which may be of use to you. Regards.

Cant boot my emachine 2984

Did you check the CMOS battery and the CPU fan. Those are two things that if aren't working the way they should be, then some computers will not boot up. Try this first then post a response if you still can't get it working.

Power supply sounds fine. If the pc won't power up it could be your motherboard. If the pc is powering up and you get a 'no signal' on your monitor it could be your gpu.
