Question about E-Machines eMachines Refurbished EMA SYSTEM BOARD MODEL T2984 eMachines (102257) PC Desktop

1 Answer

I have an emachine T2984 that won't boot. No noise of any kind. I had another emachine T2625 that was working. I took the power supply out of the T2984 (that wouldn't boot) and put it in the T2625 and it worked. Can I assume that rules out a faulty power supply? However, now when I put the original power supply back in the T2625, it now does not boot up. The power supply seems to work, but I get a "no signal" message on the monitor. Any suggestions?

Power supply sounds fine. If the pc won't power up it could be your motherboard. If the pc is powering up and you get a 'no signal' on your monitor it could be your gpu.

SOURCE: 2 emachines won't boot

Are you attaching them properly
if so then it is something other then power supply
something has caused both power supplies to blow
have you installed anything in the first emachine you talk about

Fitted 1GB RAM yesterday, computer worked fine, today started okay, but later on it had turned the power off and will not power up now (emachne 32300

If you get no power, it sounds like possibly the power supply may be bad. If you can replace the power supply with known working unit, that would be a good start. If at that point you still get no power, then possibly the motherboard could have gone bad. Even without the ram installed you should get power through the board and when you try to boot you should get a beep or series of beeps. I would start with the power supply tho.

Hello, my emachines e4259 shutts down after boot up., i tried to install another version of vista but itts still stutting down in install program. what can it be?

If it is physically shutting off (like someone yanked the power cord) than it is a power supply

If the computers screen goes black, but the computer still runs, it could be RAM or a motherboard failure

Cant boot my emachine 2984

Did you check the CMOS battery and the CPU fan. Those are two things that if aren't working the way they should be, then some computers will not boot up. Try this first then post a response if you still can't get it working.

T2984 won't power up

I've re[lace alot of bad eMacines power supplies. Nearly all of them took out the video chip on the mother baord, rendering it useless.

Emachine t2625 wii not startup

That may be due to a spike that has affected minimally the power supply or more/worse

Can not power up

To my personal experience eMachine MB's dies a slow aggravating death. I have had 2 that went janky and would take about 15 power up tries to boot. Probably the situation you are in now.

Did the power supply you had go bad? I seem to recall a bit of an issue with some older machines in the 2k series that when the Power supply died it took out the MB with it.

Dead motherboard on emachines t2984

I hope that you took it back to them.
Have them check the power supply, too. Besides, a bad power switch and connections that would be the only thing that would be keep it from starting.
