Fisher and paykel gas cooktop electric ignition faulty

The electric ignition keeps sparking even when all burners are off. The valve (or knob) feels like it won't turn off all the way for the middle griddle burner. I smell no gas, and it usually stops sparking if I turn on the griddle burner.

To remove the knobs from the cooktop you just pull them off. They are only presser fitted on a post.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

If you have already replaced the igniter and tried to dry out moisture with a hair dryer then the problem is with the spark module that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Relight an oven pilot:
  1. Turn all controls off, open the doors, and allow gas to dissipate.
  2. Hold a lighted match near the tip of the pilot on the burner assembly. If a burner does not light within two minutes, adjust the pilot, step 3.
  3. Turn the pilot adjustment screw (located near the pilot or the thermostat) in small increments and retest until the pilot has a blue flame.
  4. Check and replace an oven spark igniter:
  5. Turn all of the appliance controls off.
  6. Open the door and remove the oven bottom and the baffle (see above).
  7. Unscrew the igniter from its mounting bracket and inspect it for cracks or other defects. Replace it if it is damaged.
  8. To replace a faulty igniter, find the ignition control module, unscrew the cover, and disconnect the module. Install the replacement part and test.

Ignitor keeps sparking not wet or dirty even when no burner on

Will most probably be a problem with your ignition box. If you want to test this try taking off the hob by undoing the screws under the burners, be very careful with these however as it is very easy to strip the thread on them, once you have the hob off try unplugging the ignitor that keeps sparking and swapping where its plugged into the ignition box with another ignitor. These ignitor can be plugged into any plug in the box so no worries there. If the ignitor keeps sparkings in another hole its the ignitor. If the new ignitor sparks its the ignition box. It will most probably be the ignition box. Is a common fault

Gas igniters on all five burners keep sparking (JennAir CCG556B)

Try cleaning around all the ignitors at each burner. Look for build up of cleansing product and/or food. Sometimes all it takes is a good cleaning and removal of a buildup to solve this. Worth trying before replacing a bunch of parts!
