Question about Sony DCR-TRV285E Digital-8 Digital Camcorder
I have a Sony DCR TRV 730, older model, (the only number I can see on it is 37188 on the bottom) and it will not load any tape. It worked when I first got it, it had a tape in it and everything seems to work then. Before Christmas I got it out and ejected the tape, re-inserting a brand new sony HI 8 tape into the bay, expecting it to load the tape in it and all I would do like usual is close the door. Well, NOT.... it just sits there and makes a soft jingly funy sound and then does nothing, showing error message C31:40 in the viewfinder. I have tried several other tapes including the one I originally ejected, with no difference. I have contacted some other flusies online who said that the DCR was off warranty and they would fix it for 350 plus my shipping cost. They asked me to do several things and try this and that, but nothing worked, so they said you'l just have to send it to a sony service center. Well, I don't think so. Its not worth it. Besides.........
I happen to be a teacher of industrail arts, electronics and repair happen to be one of my experienced areas as I worked for the Milwaukee Journal Company in Milwaukee for 12 years repairing and troubleshooting 7 million dollar printing presses that have tons of electronic gadgets on them. So, tell me I don't have what it takes. I just need a golldarm repair / service manual so I can get the procedure of what gets taken apart first so I dont break stuff in the process. We had tons of repair manuals for those presses, and I know they are available somewhere, but where???? Any free ones on line you know about?? Or any at all?? I need good ones not those flash in the pan kind that skim over what you need to know, rendering themselves useless. Kindly let me know if you have ANY information for me that I can use, you patience is much appreciated.
So you are looking for service / repair manual of Sony DCR-TRV730, right?
You can buy it from Manual Zone for small fee. I would recommend to have Level2+3 manual there.
As you said you are highly qualified and camcorder is not worth to repair in service center so nice idea to give a try by yourself.
