Question about Microsoft Windows 95 + Internet Explorer for PC

2 Answers

Internet explore go srewy,

Please help my boyfriend has a big problam with his laptop he has window xp sevice pack 3. the problam is that a while ago when logging in to facebook on window explorer, it wouldnt let him click cetain links, thinking this could be a facebook problam he tested it on other genral site not social networks and found the same problam, we also notice that the media player had lost all his files and would not play, there volume control icon on the pc has also gone missing.

we looked this proplam up and found a site that seemed to be like ours and it told ups the problam was jave had gone and to download a new one also a new media player and the pc would not download any of them. so we tryed to re install window explorer to see if this would rectifie the problam, it did not.
another site gave him a solution involving winrar but the step by step info given would not work and aleted us,by sayin files were currupt and nothing we have tryed has worked, also pc slow and restarts itself sometimes please help.

ps we downloaded firefox and can enter link and thing on that ok, just not anything involving jave r media player plug ins.

ok rite update.... done that virus scan in safe mode, nothing. also some function on tune up uitilly wont work think this is the pc fault because ive used this same tool on my pc and it was fine, even re installed and repaired it in case it was faulty, but still no success. how do u update window and is it the same as reinstalling it ? because we already did that. i even selecter to put it back to a restore point but it did'nt do it for some reason. its looking like a format but with no disk this will be a big problam.
thanx for you help if you have any more suggetion i would be greatful, thanx you

Ok, if you dont have viruses, or you dont think you have some... try this:

1. boot into safe mode, and do a virus scan /some viruses can not be detected by a normal scan/ note: to enter safe mode, pres F8 constantly, while your system is startin, /as soon as you turn it on/

2. download a nice litle program called Tune Up Utilities 2008...
and check fot errors with it, it doesnt serach for any viruses, but it is wery helpfull in serching for system errors, it helped me a 1000 times :) if you can not find it, try some of these LINKS

I really think he needs a format its not hard and

I will guide yoou through it.

Does he have his own product key for windows.

Save any files on a usb or cd then see if you can borrow one

    a wincd.

The the windows product # is usually located somewhere on the laptop.

    Usually on a blue sticker.

I don't know why he did'nt get a recovery or win cd when he bought the laptop.

Possibly the bottom or it may be in any books or anything he got with the pc

Let me know if he finds it.If your not to far I could send a wincd if he finds product key

Try to uninstallur internel explorer. Go to control panel>add remove program and click add/remove windows component. Untick the internet explorer to remove. then download the internet explorer or you can do the same process uninstalling but this time tick the internet explorer box. I think it will search for your installation disc so prepare to insert it in your disc rom just in case.

I have windows home edition service pack 1 and i need to update my browser? i keep getting debug errors

You will need to update XP to Service Pack 3. Just Google "XP Service Pack 3" and follow instructions, OR go to - this will also update your browser to Internet Explorer 8.

You can install Firefox with no special updates, but it would be better to update to SP3 anyway.

Download servicepack 3.
Be sure not to have Norton installed.
If so use special Norton removal from symantec.
Never use Norton with SP3. Get Avast for instance.
