Can't get my Pixma MP500 to print with black ink

Prints great color but omits any text, etc. that is supposed to print as black. Can you help me? I've checked everything from the manual, to my ink cartridges (which are full btw).

just trying to print Word docs off my pc... nothing special. I can print color photos, etc. Just doesn't print out anything that is designated to use black ink.

Trying to scan a page from a magazine with pictures and text. It scans the pictures onto separate pages and ignores the text. All I want to do is scan the whole page and e-mail it.

Can you print a text message? It sounds like a software issue. What program are you using to print?

Only printing colors

First thing to do is change the cable, and uninstall/reinstall the
printer... correctly.

Do NOT omit step 4 or you will end up reinstalling the old drivers.

Prints only color ink nothing in black

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

My Canon Pixma MP500 is printing only black.

Hey, Sound like something is wrong with the color cartridge. Replace the color one and try again. If that fails you might have to replace the printer as it doesn't sound like the problem is software related.

Canon pixma ip6600d omitting black ink

Many printers use color to make black, you may have to FORCE it to use the black ink cartridge for black or turn off something that is telling the printer to use the color cartridges for the black.

That's my educated guess anyway...

I do know that some printers do this, so I'm assuming this is what is giving you trouble. I don't know why it would print any different on a memory card than from the computer though...

PIXMA MP500

The number 5 is a Pigment text black while the number 8 is a dye photo black. The text black is for black text mainly and the photo black is for use when printing photos. Since the text black is always running out it means you are printing a lot of documents in plain paper mode.

I recommend using QUALITY refill ink like Hobbicolors which is sold on eBay and will save you a bundle of money. The MP830 is a 5 ink printer so you need the 5 ink kit like the IP4300.
