Question about Logitech Z-4 Computer Speakers

1 Answer

I AM GETTING NO SOUND FROM MY LEFT SPEAKER.

REALTECH IS THE AUDIO MANAGER AND I SEE NOTHING FOR LOGITECH SPEAKERS. I CAN NOT FIND THE INSTRUCTIONS TO CONNECT THE SPEAKERS. THEY WERE WORKING AT ONE POINT PERFECTLY, BUT NOW SOUND ONLY COMES OUT OF ONE SPEAKER. I HAVE RAN THE TEST TO VERIFY THIS.

I THINK I NEED A MANUAL OR ATLEAST SOME ADVISE AS TO WHAT TO DO NEXT.

THANKS

Connect the speaker pin to the light green speaker point(most probably the middle one) on the back of your PC.

Open
Startmenu->control panel->sound and audio devices
Do you see a window which says "no audio devices installed" ?

  • If yes then its a driver problem, you need to install audio driver for your PC.
  • if no then, click on "Speaker volume button" below, then click "restore defaults" button.
This should fix the problem.
Otherwise I would suggest some more.

Subwoofer not working

The subwoofer is dependent on a sound amp powered by an external source whereby the speakers are powered by the line output from the sound source (like a computer speaker out jack). Powered Subwoofers controlled by a power amplifier require a power source such as an AC/DC source plugged into the house power. If the device is defective or a mismatch, the subwoofer will not function. Try a new power transformer and see if that fixes the problem. Other than that, if the power transformer is good, then the woofer could be defective.

Activate external speakers

Does the replacement speakers have identical specs to the original?? If not you could try downloading new drivers for your new speakers at this site - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails?driverId=R155944

then click the blue download button to download, do not use the dell download manager.

If your replacement has identical specifications to the old and still no audio is coming out, try downloading the driver above. if it still doesn't work then most probably its a hardware problem before the speaker section of your drive.

1.
Lets start with the obvious. Make sure the volume mixer control is not muted. This is usually a speaker icon at the bottom of the screen. If you do not see this then go to control panel, sounds and audio devices, and make sure nothing is muted.
2.
check device manager. This can be done in Win XP by right clicking my computer, properties, hardware, then click device manager. Alternative way to enter device manager is by clicking start menu, control panel, system (performance and maintenance), hardware then device manager.

In the deice manager window see if any question marks or exclamation points are visible.

If so, see if it the mark is for an audio device.

If it is an audio device, uninstall the device.

Next, try to install the sound card driver again. If that fails, the enter the device manager and uninstall the sound card again, restart the PC, ignore the hardware manager, and try to install the sound card driver software again.

Logitech R-10 speakers sound problem

in control panel, go to hardware and sound, click on realtech audio manager with your logitech speakers plugged in, and then you should be able to chose your speaker configuration. If that doesn't work, try going to sound, and configuring your speaker setup there. Realtech has different settings you can click on, including volume, as well as various equalizer settings which you choose if you want to sound like you are in a sadium, bathtub, etc.
