Question about Mitsubishi VS-60703 60" Rear Projection Television

Can't switch inputs on my Mitsubishi WS-55807

The only input I can use is the DTV (YPrPb/GRBHV), all other inputs has no display, not even the on-screen display in the left hand corner. Ant-A has sound but no picture, can't even see the volume control.

This started after I had the corrected a convergence problem by resoldering the convergence chips.

Which connection? On the 3 main boards when I plug everything back in, from the back, would it be the left board, or the middle?

  • Allen Cleveland Jan 18, 2009

I pulled everything apart again to double check all the connections. All seem to be in the right spot, they are labeled and keyed correctly.

I can get PIP with DTV and input-1 (Wii), as soon as I switch the display input-1 is blank. I know I'm switching input because I can see a flicker and when it get the Ant-A I get sound, and also with input-1 with the Wii attached. I can watch TV using the DTV input coming from my AV-Receiver, but am limited to DirectTv and DVD that only use that input. Can't use any other devices on any input on the TV.

After checking one more time for any loose connections, I put it all back together and powered it on and started to switch inputs and they started working! I started to set up my Wii and went to go wash my hands and came back and my screen when blank again. Switch through the inputs again and all blank except for the DTV input.

Just remove that convergence chip and connect it properly, but if they r old 1 which you have resoldered that this is not the problem of wrong connection as old 1 does not works after resoldering.just get the new convergenmce chip from the  radio shack and replace it with new .it will then only work properly.  thanks.

How do i get 1080i, my tv shows im only in 480i. i think i might have it hooked up incorrect. my other tv of another brand is much newer so all i did was connect the hdmi cable from the tv to the cable box...

Hello

Your TV will display all High Definition signals as 1080i True HDTV™ and all standard definition signals will be displayed as 480p.

Component Inputs 1-2
YPbPr(480i/480p/1080i)
These inputs can be used for the connection of A/V equipment with component video outputs, such as a DVD player or external HDTV receiver. Please see Appendix B for signal compatibility.
Input DTV (480i/480p/1080i)
This input is used to connect an external DTV receiver, and can be configured for YPrPb and RGB plus H&V signal types.

As a special feature, you have the ability to adjust the red and blue light beams in reference to the fixed green light beam. This process is called convergence. There are two separate memories for convergence. One, for SD 480i/480p signals; the other for HD 1080i signals. SD convergence should be adjusted while watching an SD source and HD convergence should be adjusted while watching an HD source.

Wide Expand: Enlarges the picture, cropping some of the image on both sides. This Expand format is useful to remove or reduce black side bars on HD broadcasts of 4:3 images with black bars. Available for analog 1080i, digital SD 16:9 and digital HD signals.

InputDTV
This input is compatible with most standard DTV and satellite receivers with component video (YPbPr) outputs. Compatible DTV signals are SDTV 480i/480p, and HDTV 1080i. All other DTV signals, such as 720p, need to be converted by the DTV receiver to one of the compatible signal types. Please check the DTV receiver specifications before connecting.
This input is compatible with some DTV receivers using RGB with "separate H and V sync". Compatible DTV signals are SDTV 480i, 480p, and HDTV 1080i. All other DTV signals, such as 720p, need to be converted by the DTV receiver to one of the compatible signal types. Industry standards for DTV RGB signals (systems, synchronization, timing, and signal strengths) are not currently established. These inputs will not be compatible with all DTV receivers that offer RGB, HV outputs. RGB, HV signals with less than 5 cables are not compatible.
If your DTV receiver offers both DTV component video signals and DTV RGB, HV signals, we suggest you use the DTV component video signals. Check the DTV receiver specifications before connecting.
Ok.

Ws 65611 will not play HD channels. Screen gets fuzzy like it is trying to focus, then converts to blue screen that states "Check connections or power. The connections for RGBHV or YPrPb invalid" I have...

This model only has one HD input---it has two sets of component inputs on the back and one is marked 480/1080----in the menu it will be the DTV input.

Check to make sure you are not connected to the other component input.

Let me know what happens and let me know exactly where you are connected and what are using for signal.

If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

My television only puts out a pic in 480. The 720 and 1080 are not working. Getting sound no picture

No input on a WS-55511 is capable of 720p . Inputs COMP1 and COMP2 ONLY accept 480i/480p . Input DTV accepts 480i/p and 1080i . When using Input DTV with a component connection(YPbPr) and you get a green or no picture then you will need to navigate the menus and setup input DTV for YPbPr instead of RGB.

High Definition--WS-55807

IF the MITS has 3 component inputs blue red yellow RCA jacks on the back then yes at 480 or 720p, you'll need to attach 2 audio cables for sound. If it has a HDMI input then absolutely.

Cant get 1080i

This TV came out in 1999 and the HDTV standards wern't established yet. Just make sure you are using the DTV YpRpb inputs and not the DVD YpRpb inputs on the back of the set. Leave the menu setting at 480p and on the :"ASSIGN INPUT" sub menu make sure "DTV" is set to YpRpb. Even then it may not be compatible with a PS3 at 1080i.
